The developers of Gothic 1 Remake continue to delight fans of the old school with familiar culinary activities, but with new twists. A special mission awaits you in Snaf’s camp: steal a secret recipe called “Double Double.” This guide will teach you how to gain the trust of the castle chef, pacify the local bully, and where to gather rare ingredients for the best stew in Minenthal.

How to start the “Double Double” quest and find Syrah?
You won’t be able to join Snaf’s culinary spy games right away. First, you’ll need to obtain a pass to the main castle area in the Old Camp—access will only be granted after you complete the main quest “Casting Shadows.” Snaf is eager to discover the secret of the dish served exclusively to Gomez and his inner circle, but he can’t get to the magnates’ chefs on his own. You’ll have to act as a courier and undercover agent.
After entering the castle courtyard, turn right immediately – that’s where Sira’s kitchen is. The castle cook jealously guards the culinary secrets of the ore barons. If you ask Sira directly about Gomez’s recipe, she’ll simply send you packing. We need to earn her trust.
To do this, you’ll need to solve her personal problem: she’s being haunted by Overseer Bullitt. The same Bullitt who greeted us with a hook to the jaw at the start of the game. You need to activate and fully complete the side quest “Bullitt the Bully.” Once the insolent guard is dealt with, return to Sira – the grateful cook will give you the coveted scroll with the recipe for “Double Double” stew, no questions asked.
Where to collect all the ingredients for Gomez’s stew?
After collecting the scroll, return to Snafu on the outer ring. The cheerful chef will examine the ingredients, but he’ll still have to send you on a quest to find the ingredients. For Snuff to prepare an elite stew (and simultaneously teach the protagonist this useful skill), you’ll need to bring exactly two of each resource.
Below is the complete list of required ingredients and the best places to farm them:

Carrots (2 pcs.) The most basic item on the list. Vegetables are abundantly scattered right underfoot in the huts of the Old Camp, and if you’re too lazy to look, almost all the local merchants sell them for next to nothing.

Strong Beer (2 pcs.) You don’t have to go far for booze. Head straight to Fletcher in the Old Camp—he always has a couple of bottles of the necessary alcohol stashed away.

Raw Meat (2 pcs.) This requires a bit of hunting. Go outside the gates and clear the nearby clearings of local fauna—a couple of scavengers or mole rats will easily provide you with fresh tenderloin.

Mist Mushroom (2 pcs.) These plants thrive in moisture and darkness. Look for them along riverbanks or in nearby Minenthal caves. If you don’t want to risk your life in the dark, head to the Swamp Camp—Fortuno will sell them for 5 ore nuggets each.

Cave Dripweed (2 pcs.) A specific flora that grows exclusively on stone walls inside grottoes and mines. An alternative and safer option is to trade with Baal Kadar in the same Swamp Camp, but his price is slightly higher: 8 ore nuggets each.
Once your food basket is full, return to Snafa’s cauldron. As a reward for your efforts, you’ll not only receive a serving of top-quality food for Gomez, but also permanently master a new recipe in your Gothic 1 Remake cooking journal.
