The remake of the pirate saga features 30 treasure maps—three more than the original. Some rewards have been reworked, and the search mechanic requires not just coordinates but also the ability to interpret terrain sketches. Here is where to find each map, how to reach the treasure, and what to upgrade first.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026. It is not a remaster but a full remake built from scratch on the Anvil engine—the same one used for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft Singapore is leading development, and Matt Ryan—the original voice of Edward Kenway—has returned to record new lines. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Ubisoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store).

Treasure maps in Resynced are a distinct type of collectible. Each map is a scrap of paper featuring coordinates and a terrain sketch. You can only locate the treasure by combining both reference points: the numbers on the world map and the drawing that highlights distinctive landscape features. This guide covers all 30 maps, including exact coordinates, rewards, and acquisition priority.

How do treasure maps work in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced?

The treasure-hunting mechanic is consistent across all maps:

  • Find the map. It is usually lying next to a skeleton; less frequently, it is awarded for capturing a warehouse, progressing the story, or completing a side quest.
  • Open the world map. The excavation site coordinates are listed in the bottom-right corner of the treasure map itself.
  • Hover your cursor over the world map; your current coordinates appear on the screen. Align them with the numbers from the treasure map.
  • Use the sketch for reference. It depicts cliffs, trees, ruins, or shipwrecks, helping you pinpoint the exact digging location.
  • Dig up the treasure. An interactive prompt will appear at the correct spot.

Important details:

  • Some buried treasures only become available after specific story missions. However, nothing is permanently missable; once the main story is complete, all treasures can be found during free roam.
  • There are two types of maps: standard ones (found in hidden stashes) and those reconstructed from fragments—the latter can be assembled at the treasure merchant’s shop on Great Inagua once the shop has been built.
  • For the “Dilettante” and “The Memory of My Enemy” trophies, only 6 upgrades (Ultimate Plans), 3 pieces of art, and 1 portrait are required. The remaining treasures provide useful resources but are not necessary for 100% completion.

Top 5 Treasure Map Rewards — What to Upgrade First

Not all treasures are equally useful. Some provide cosmetic items, while others offer a genuine advantage in combat and at sea. Here are the blueprints you should prioritize acquiring first:

1. Elite Sails Blueprint (Nassau, #11) — ship speed is the foundation of everything. Elite sails provide a significant boost to maneuverability, allowing you to catch any target or escape pursuit. Top priority.

2. Improved Mortar Storage Blueprint (Matanzas, #4) — mortars are your primary weapon against forts and heavy ships. This upgrade increases damage and salvo accuracy. Get it as soon as you unlock the region.

3. Improved Round Shot Storage Blueprint (Petite Caverne, #8) — increases the number of round shots you can carry on board. In prolonged naval battles, your ammunition supply often decides the outcome.

4. Improved Fire Barrel Storage Blueprint (Tulum, #18) — fire barrels are the perfect tool against enemy ships at close range. This upgrade boosts damage and blast radius.

5. Gilded Hull Blueprint (Kingston, #17) — increases ship durability. It allows you to withstand more hits during boarding actions and while under fire from forts.

You can collect the other blueprints as you progress, but these five will provide the greatest boost to combat effectiveness in the early stages.

Complete list of secret chests (non-map based) by location

Resynced features chests that do not require treasure maps. You simply need to find them—they are located in hidden spots across the Caribbean. Here are the most valuable ones:

  • Captain Morgan’s Outfit — on the north side of Black Island, on high ground around the corner. A legendary outfit that offers no stat bonuses but looks impressive.
  • Captain Drake’s Outfit — off the coast of Isla de Sacrificios (on the west side of the map), underwater. Dive down and look for the chest on the seabed.
  • Seashell Amulet — in Havana, between two buildings. Increases the yield from skinning animals—vital for quickly upgrading pouches in the early game.
  • Voynich Manuscript — in Havana, on the roof of the Castillo de la Real Fuerza fortress. Synchronize the viewpoint, deal with the guard, and follow the white markers to an open window.
  • “Rudolphine Tables” Chest — in Havana, east of the cathedral, near the “Fernadia” sign.
  • Letters in Bottles — scattered across the archipelago, often found near skeletons. They provide additional story context.

Reaching difficult treasures: Smuggler’s Dens and underwater caves

Some treasures are hidden in hard-to-reach locations. Here are the main challenges:

  • Principe (#7) — the most remote treasure. There is no fast travel option; you must sail your ship to the eastern “P” marker on the map. Collect the chest during your first visit to avoid having to return.
  • Blackbeard’s Treasure (#30) — Anotto Bay, coordinates 590, 245. Destroy all pirate ships, dive into the water, and follow the tunnels to a room filled with gunpowder barrels. Find a small barrel, place it next to the bricked-up passage, and blow it up; the tunnels beyond will lead you to the treasure.
  • Underwater Chests — For example, off the northwest coast of Abaco Island: look for ship wreckage floating in the water and dive toward the largest section.
  • Smuggler’s Dens — Fast travel is unavailable in these zones, and the paths are often convoluted. It is best to collect all the chests during your first visit, provided you already have the map.

What to do after collecting all the maps?

Once you have found all 30 buried treasures and collected the restored maps from the merchant on Great Inagua, the “Dilettante” and “The Memory of My Enemy” trophies will unlock. These require only 6 Ultimate upgrades, 3 pieces of art, and 1 portrait; the rest is optional.

The most valuable reward isn’t the Reales or the blueprints, but the composure and understanding of the world map you gain along the way. Each treasure serves as a clue for the next, turning the hunt for all the loot into an adventure in its own right.

The game launches on July 9, 2026. If you played the original, prepare for Resynced to surpass it in every regard: graphics, combat, navigation, and content volume. If you are a newcomer, this guide will help you avoid getting lost in the Caribbean and start your pirate journey with confidence. Happy sailing, Captain!
