One of the early quests in Gothic 1 Remake is the assignment of Fingers from the Old Camp. He wants you to steal Scatty’s ring. What for? Firstly, this way you will increase your reputation among the right people (Diego himself hints: win the location of the neighborhood). Secondly, Fingers will teach you how to pick locks — but only after you open that very chest. Where can I find a Scutty chest in the Old Camp?
The Scatty Hut is just a stone’s throw from Fingers. Go down the slope where it stands, turn right — here it is, the right building. The screenshot above shows what it looks like (so as not to confuse it with Gomez’s barn).
It’s better to visit during the day. At this time, Scatty is usually stuck in the arena, and you won’t have to sneak past the sleeping owner. An important point: make sure that Mad doesn’t follow you. This chatterbox is capable of burning down the entire operation. If he still trails after you, first deal with him, then climb into the hut.

It’s definitely worth completing this task, and the banal 100 XP here is just a nice bonus. In fact, this penny quest opens access to a chain of three important mechanics that critically simplify survival in the early stages of the game.
Bonuses and hidden advantages of the Fingers Quest
If you are in doubt whether to spend time looking for trinkets, then here are three ironclad arguments from the authors of our gaming media.:

Fingers will start teaching you stealing skills. For the standard 10 LP and 100 ore, this weasel will upgrade your Lock Picking to the “Trained” level. After that, your lockpick will start to withstand up to four errors in a row, and the lock itself will stop resetting progress when the tool breaks. At the start of Gothic 1 Remake, when every piece of ore literally counts, this feature will save you a fortune on buying new lock picks. Without the ring, the thief won’t even talk to you.

Plus one vote for Diego. The successful delivery of the ring promotes the most important story quest “Ghost Chance”. Even if you’ve cleaned out his chest for the sake of the quest ring, the faction’s reputation won’t drop one iota — the main thing is not to catch Scutty’s eye at the time of the hack.
All rewards for completing the Fingers quest
Perhaps the only scenario in which this quest can be skipped with a clear conscience is if you have firmly decided to become a mercenary in a New Camp or join the sectarians in a Swamp Camp, having already gained enough reputation points for this. But even so, 16 free pieces of ore from the chest and a useful hacking skill more than pay for the five minutes you spend picking at the lock pins.
