Pearl Abyss continues to churn out content for Crimson Desert. The new update has added several interesting mechanics. Cliff, for example, can finally wield a proper long-range weapon—muskets are now available. Players can also now build a fishing pond at their camp in the Howling Hills.
But the main draw of the patch is the baby wyvern. Yes, you can find and tame it. For now, it’s a regular pet, but the developers promise that in the future, the baby will grow into a fully-fledged mount. So it’s worth searching for the egg now, with an eye on the future.

Where to find a wyvern egg in Crimson Desert
Head to the southeast of the map, to the Delaysia region. There, in the southwest, on the Three Brothers cliff, is the Wyvern Nest. However, you won’t be able to approach it the normal way—the territory has been occupied by the Wyvern Tamer faction. If you’re low level, be prepared for trouble. The local enemies are vicious, hit hard, and fire those muskets.

The gang is led by the boss, Balthazar. Killing him now is impossible—he’s tied to a faction quest and will disappear after losing about a quarter of your HP. But ignoring him isn’t an option either: he prefers long-range attacks and is a real pain in the ass in close combat.

How to get the wyvern egg at Three Brothers Cliff?
Once all the tamers are defeated, jump down into the central ravine. You’ll see several nests there. Climb the ladder to the second tier and follow the rock wall. Sooner or later, you’ll encounter a wall of bismuth ore. It can only be broken with a strike from “Palmar: Focus”—a specific combo called “Sunder.” Behind the wall is a small cave. To the right of the armor chest is the egg. Grab it and leave.

Next, all that’s left to do is hatch the pet (a standard process in the game) and wander the world with a tiny wyvern on your shoulder. It seems Pearl Abyss has taken customization and depth seriously: muskets, fishing, pet dragons. Crimson Desert is gradually acquiring those “little things” that make you want to spend hundreds of hours in the open world.
How to properly hatch a wyvern egg
We’ve sorted out the egg, now comes the most important part—hatching it. And here’s a pleasant surprise: unlike the yellow-billed owl, you don’t have to trudge far. Exit the cave, turn right, then left—right at the top of the second flight of stairs, you’ll find a nest. In the center is a neat spot for the egg. Place it, and… be patient.
About an hour of game time. It doesn’t seem like much, but there’s one condition: you can’t leave the area. If you do, your progress will reset. You’ll have to start over. So, have an hour to spare (or clear out nearby mobs).

When the timer runs out, the egg will glow orange. Approach it, and a “Hatch” prompt will appear. Click it. The wyvern pet will immediately appear in the menu. By the way, the little one looks pretty funny.
Why do you need a wyvern pet in the game
Wyverns don’t provide any direct bonuses in combat or scouting. They’re pure companions: they follow you around, collecting loot from enemy corpses and broken ore. Their cuteness and automatic resource gathering are their main draw. However, Pearl Abyss has already announced a future update where wyverns will be able to grow. And then, yes, they’ll be usable as mounts, similar to the yellow-billed or the mengum. So investing in a baby dragon now makes sense: you won’t have to look for an adult later.

Errors when raising a wyvern in camp
Many gamers unfairly ignore hidden location triggers. If your character dies right next to the nest, the system treats the forced respawn as an immediate exit from the nest. The result is predictable: the running timer resets to zero, and the egg returns to your inventory completely intact. The same outcome awaits those who decide to leave the area during the hatching process. To ensure your progress, you must completely clear the tier before laying the egg. This will give you a full hour of peace without having to leave. Remember: one forgotten mob, hiding behind a bismuth probe in the far corner of a rock wall, is enough to completely lose your farm. Check hidden clusters carefully.
Why does the wyvern nest timer reset
Losing the timer is most often not due to the difficulty of the quest, but rather a simple lack of attention to the mechanics. Here’s where the walkthrough breaks down:
How to defeat the boss Balthazar
-
Trying to completely drain the boss is a waste of precious potions and HP. The script is designed so that Balthazar is guaranteed to retreat after losing about 25% of his health. Don’t waste resources. As soon as the retreat is triggered, immediately switch focus to the rank-and-file tamers.
Combo Palmar for bismuth ore
-
If you use the wrong skills, the wall simply won’t react, and the egg will appear “missing.” There’s only one solution. Only the “Palmar: Focus” → “Sunder” combo works effectively here. Any other combinations are useless.
How to free up a pet slot
-
The game interface is strict: if all active slots are full when picking up an egg, the game won’t let you pick it up. There will be no warning. The best option is to open the pet menu in advance and free up at least one slot for the future wyvern.
Where to find the egg on the second floor
-
Looking for the egg at the bottom is a fatal waste of time. Not only is it not there, but you also risk getting aggroed again by the newly respawned monsters. Immediately climb the stairs to the second floor and move along the cliff. The target is on the right side, right next to the chest with armor.
