The Void

The Void does not build civilizations; it consumes the ones already standing. Beyond the edges of reality, this hungering absence pushes into Runeterra through cracks torn open by careless magic, and everything that emerges from it exists to erase rather than to rule. It has no capital, no history to speak of, and no interest in acquiring either.

Its creatures fall into rough categories, each showing a different method of unmaking:

• Predators built for the surface world — Kha’Zix, the Voidreaver, and Rek’Sai, the Void Burrower, hunt and adapt with an efficiency that treats every kill as a lesson for the next one, growing more dangerous the longer they survive.
• Sheer scale given a mouth — Cho’Gath, the Terror of the Void, and Kog’Maw, the Mouth of the Abyss, reduce the Void’s purpose to its simplest form: consumption without limit or apparent end.
• Intellects that study before they devour — Vel’Koz, the Eye of the Void, and Malzahar, the Prophet of the Void, treat Runeterra as a subject to catalogue and a message to spread, each patient in a way that pure hunger usually is not.
• Those the Void has claimed from within — Kai’Sa, Daughter of the Void, and Kassadin, the Void Walker, both went in as ordinary people and came back changed, carrying its influence in ways neither fully shed no matter how far they travel from where it happened.

Above all of them stands Bel’Veth, the Empress of the Void, a ruler whose rise reorganized these scattered hungers into something closer to a single will. Where earlier incursions felt like isolated wounds in reality, her presence suggests the Void is capable of direction as well as appetite, a shift that changes how every other incursion ought to be read.

None of this leaves room for negotiation. Every faction and nation elsewhere in Runeterra can be reasoned with, bargained with, or fought to a standstill; the Void offers none of those options, only the same outcome repeated wherever it finds an opening, patient enough to wait for the next one if the first attempt fails.
