The Story of Rek'Sai
Merchants crossing Shurima have learned to read the ground itself for warning signs.
Rek’Sai is a spawn of the Void — a hungering emptiness beyond reality whose creatures exist only to unmake the world, one victim at a time — and she carries that hunger with her wherever she tunnels. The sheer scale of what she has claimed across Shurima says as much about her as any description could: entire stretches of the once-great empire now sit abandoned, because traders and caravans would rather add hundreds of miles to a journey than risk crossing her territory. She and her offspring have turned that open ground into a hunting ground on her terms alone, and everyone who lives nearby knows it.
Rek’Sai fights as a fighter-tank most often found in the jungle or top lane, running on Rage rather than mana, a resource built entirely from combat rather than patience. There is no subtlety to how she operates once prey is found. Fury of the Xer’Sai, her passive, generates that Rage whenever she attacks or lands a basic ability, and she can consume it while burrowed to restore health. Burrow sends her beneath the earth entirely, trading her basic attacks for increased Move Speed and the passive warning system of Tremor Sense, and while burrowed she can create a long-lasting tunnel between two points that only a lingering enemy can destroy. Queen’s Wrath empowers her next several attacks with bonus physical damage against nearby enemies, and its burrowed form instead launches a burst of void-charged earth that damages and reveals anyone it hits. Furious Bite finishes what that pressure started, dealing bonus true damage once her Fury has built to its cap. Void Rush, her ultimate, passively marks anything she damages, and can be activated to make her briefly untargetable while she lunges at a marked target for a blow scaled to their own health. She shares her origin with other Void-spawn like Kha’Zix and Bel’Veth, though few Void creatures have carved out as much visible territory in the mortal world as she has.
