The Story of Cho'Gath
The first thing Cho’Gath felt upon arriving in Runeterra’s harsh daylight, so far from the churn of the Void it came from, was hunger, and that hunger has never really let up since. It isn’t incidental to what Cho’Gath is; it’s close to the whole point. The Void’s drive to consume all life finds one of its purest expressions in this single creature.
Its biology processes anything it eats directly into growth, thickening muscle and density or hardening its outer shell until it resembles organic diamond more than living tissue. When growing further stops being useful, the excess doesn’t just sit there, Cho’Gath expels it as razor spines, leaving prey impaled and ready to be eaten later rather than immediately.
Every part of its kit maps onto that same cycle of feeding and growing. Carnivore restores Health and Mana whenever Cho’Gath lands a kill, the values scaling up as it levels. Rupture pops enemies into the air from range, slowing them as they land. Feral Scream silences a cone of enemies with a shriek loud enough to double as crowd control. Vorpal Spikes turns its basic attacks into a spreading, slowing hazard along a line. Feast, its ultimate, devours a single unit outright for heavy true damage, and if that unit dies, Cho’Gath grows again, adding permanent max Health on top of whatever it already gained from Carnivore. Other Void-born creatures like Kog’Maw and Bel’Veth share that same origin, though few embody its hunger as literally as Cho’Gath does.
He’s played in the top lane or mid, drawing on Mana despite a body built almost entirely around consumption rather than casting. Even a fellow Void-spawn like Kha’Zix, built for stealth and precision rather than size, shows how differently that same origin can shape a creature standing next to Cho’Gath’s endless hunger.
