The finale of IO Interactive’s spy campaign left gamers sweating – the final confrontation with the main antagonist proved to be unusually tactical. Having caught up with the silver-haired villain at a social event at Webb’s gala, James Bond suddenly finds himself trapped: unarmed, only a back room at hand, and a determined enemy. Survive and eliminate your target in 007 First Light using the high-tech Q-Watch gadgets, hacking the location’s infrastructure.

How to defeat Murtaugh in 007 First Light: A guide to stealth combat

The conclusion of Murtaugh’s story arc awaits players at the end of the mission “The Uninvited Guest,” where the confrontation takes place in an ordinary warehouse. The main feature of this boss fight is the enemy’s advanced artificial intelligence. The developers were clearly inspired by the iconic Mr. Freeze mechanic from Batman: Arkham City. Murtaugh learns quickly from his mistakes: each trap in the warehouse will only work against him once.

The warehouse is literally studded with laser motion sensors. Cross the beam, and the boss will immediately open fire. However, this security system can easily be turned to your advantage – intentionally activating the sensor works perfectly as bait, allowing you to lure the gray-haired spy right into a prepared strike.

Below is a complete list of interactive objects that will help you eliminate Murtaugh in 007 First Light without firing a single shot.

All available traps in the warehouse and how to activate them

  • Ventilation Ventilation Extractors. The most readily available tool in the arena, scattered throughout the center and perimeter of the warehouse. Remotely hacking the ventilation system inflicts gas damage to Murtaugh and disorients the enemy. This is the perfect moment to break distance and retreat back into the shadows (assuming you managed to escape in time).
  • Spotlight Panels Powerful lighting fixtures are mounted primarily in the corners of the room. Lure the boss into the illuminated area and activate the shield, and Murtaugh will be blinded for a significant period of time, losing part of his XP bar.
  • Cargo Lift. These are metal platforms embedded in the floor at the edges of the area. When hacked with a Q-Watch, they emit a powerful electric discharge. Important: Agent 007 shouldn’t be standing on the plate when it’s activated, otherwise, the electric charge will guarantee a trip to the checkpoint.

  • Central Chandelier. This is the area’s main asset, capable of shaving off a huge chunk of the boss’s health in one go. There’s only one chandelier in the warehouse, hanging precisely in the center, and standard hacking doesn’t work on it. To bring the structure down on Murtaugh’s head, you’ll need to use a laser sling or fire a special dart phone.

Resource tip: Don’t worry about running out of energy for your gadgets. Consumables and batteries are scattered liberally throughout the warehouse, allowing you to quickly recharge your Q-Watch while hiding.

Once Murtaugh’s health bar reaches zero, the game automatically triggers a final cinematic, in which James Bond effectively closes the case against his longtime enemy. This tactic is the easiest and most reliable way to complete the final chapter of “The Uninvited Guest” without any unnecessary stress.
