The developers from the Arc Team are officially phasing out support for their PUBG tactical project: Blindspot — the game’s Steam early access servers will be turned off on March 30th. The ambitious spin-off was released in February, but the project did not last even eight weeks on the market. Sequoia Young, who represents the studio, honestly admitted that the team simply did not achieve the level of quality that it had originally envisioned. According to him, it was a “bold attempt” to rethink the genre of tactical shooters through the prism of isometry.

“It was a bold attempt to explore new possibilities in the top—down tactical shooter genre,” Sequoia Yang from the Arc Team.

Why PUBG: Blindspot failed on Steam

The game tried to sit on two stools, mixing the hardcore of Rainbow Six Siege with the dynamics of isometric action games, but the audience did not appreciate the idea. Reviews on Steam quickly became “mixed” — gamers complained en masse about empty servers and endless match searches. For the free-to-play model, low online is a verdict, because without a critical mass of players, micropayments do not bring profit, and it becomes simply unprofitable to maintain the infrastructure.

Krafton’s financial problems and the fate of the Arc Team

The abrupt closure was probably influenced by the general background around the publisher Krafton. Despite the fact that the company’s revenue increased in 2025, net profit sank by 11% — a wake-up call for investors. Krafton is currently in austerity mode: a hiring freeze has been introduced and a voluntary layoff program has been launched. In such conditions, the ballast in the form of stagnating projects is dumped first.

  • Closing date: March 30th, PUBG: Blindspot support will be completely discontinued.
  • Context: Krafton records an 11% drop in profit on the back of overall revenue growth for 2025.
  • The future of the studio: The Arc Team is going to “regroup” — (we hope the next project will be more successful).

By the way, PUBG: Blindspot is far from the only experiment in the PUBG: Battlegrounds universe. Previously, Krafton had already tried to expand the franchise through the mobile PUBG: New State and the horror The Callisto Protocol. However, none of these titles could come close to the phenomenal success of the original. A coincidence? Rather, it’s a pattern: the magic of the PUBG brand doesn’t work in all genres.
