Guns in Grand Theft Auto aren’t just a way to deal with troublemakers; they’re a fully-fledged part of the game’s ecosystem. Each installment in the series has expanded and refined the selection of weapons, and the sixth installment, it seems, will be no exception. Just based on trailers, official art, and announcements, we can compile a rather impressive list of what we’ll be wielding in Vice City and its environs. Of course, we won’t get the full picture until the November 2026 release, but Rockstar has already shown off a few things.
Of particular interest are the exclusive variants for those who pre-order or purchase the Ultimate Edition. This edition, among other bonuses, includes the Hawk & Little Morgan dual revolvers—one for him and one for her. Both are designed in the “Vice City from the Vercetti Estate” style, immediately referencing Tommy and his iconic palm tree shirt. The handles are engraved with the names: J. Duval for Jason and L. Caminos for Lucia, along with an improved scope. Incidentally, a folding switchblade was spotted in the same artwork, which will likely be added to the melee arsenal.
But that’s not all. Jason has a Girardi ES9 pistol, and Lucia a Klose K17. Both have elegant engravings: Lucia’s features roses and her signature, while Jason’s features the Latin “Sua Sponte.” This is the motto of the US Army Rangers, signifying a willingness to act on one’s own initiative—a rather telling choice for a character who clearly is not one to sit idly by.
The Ultimate Edition also includes a Shitzu Squalo motorboat, and a crate of explosives is found on board. It seems the developers are suggesting that we start wreaking havoc on the open ocean right away, without further ado. Owners of this edition are also promised a raid on the PTT YOUNGIN$ gang’s warehouse, where they can acquire rare items and contraband. One image shows a gang member holding a brightly painted submachine gun with the word “ERIS” written on the side. It’s ironic that ERIS is a shoe brand in the GTA universe, not a gun brand, but apparently branding rules were put on the back burner this time.

The Ultimate Edition art also shows the other side of Lucia’s revolver—”VC” is engraved near the trigger, likely standing for Vice City. A small detail, but a nice touch.
The “Vintage Vice City” pre-order pack is a separate story. Anyone who orders it before release will receive pistols inspired by the Bersa Thunder 380. This pack also allows you to customize most weapons with a tropical palm tree pattern—the same one that adorned Tommy Vercetti’s shirt. In the promotional image, this print is already visible on a pistol reminiscent of a Beretta 92FS, as well as on an as-yet-unidentified submachine gun. Very Vice City-esque, there is no denying it.
But let’s return to what we saw in the trailers themselves. In the very first video, Jason takes aim with an assault rifle—the logo above the magazine easily identifies it as a Duke Arms Company carbine. The exact model is not specified, but it’s clearly not the only rifle from this manufacturer. In a video on the GTA 6 media site, Raul Bautista aims a special Duke carbine—and it’s a different barrel, with a more impressive appearance.
As for submachine guns, in the second trailer, during the armed robbery scene, both Lucia and Jason are armed with models very similar to the Heckler & Koch MP5/40. Jason also has a red dot sight on his gun—apparently he prefers precision.
Other categories already featured include a double-barreled shotgun, a Duke Arms Company sniper rifle, and another bolt-action rifle reminiscent of the Remington 700. Among the pistols, in addition to those already mentioned, are the Capo and Mustang, as well as the standard Hawk & Little Morgan revolver. Heavy weapons include a grenade launcher, while melee weapons include a bat, a hammer, a miniature golf club, a pool cue, and the aforementioned folding knife.
This list is indicative, and it only covers what we have been able to identify from publicly available materials. Rockstar traditionally loves surprises, so the final version will surely have room for more exotic weapons. For now, we can only guess how each of these weapons will perform in action. One thing is certain: with such an arsenal, there will not be a dull moment.

Sniper Rifles and Shotguns in GTA 6

We’ve encountered double-barreled shotguns many times in the series, and they’ll be making their way into GTA 6 as well. One of the screenshots, showing poachers operating in the Grassrivers area, features just such a shotgun—a classic that’s likely useful at close range. It’s unclear whether it will have a sawed-off version or other modifications, but its presence is welcome.
Rockstar is not skimping on sniper weapons either. In the same area, in Mount Kalaga National Park, hunters are cruising around with a bolt-action rifle very similar to the Remington 700. This is a serious tool for those who prefer precise shots at long range. In another shot from Grassrivers, one of the poachers holds a Duke Arms Company assault sniper rifle in his lap—apparently the same “special carbine” we mentioned last time, but in a more powerful version. Next to him stands a companion with a carbine, but his model has not yet been identified.
Overview of all pistols in Grand Theft Auto 6
The game will apparently feature a plethora of pistols. In the very first trailer, Jason is seen riding a motorcycle with a pistol reminiscent of a Beretta 92FS—the same barrel he uses in the drive-by shooting scene in the second trailer. It’s a reliable classic, and will likely be one of the first available weapons in the game.

However, Lucia, judging by the screenshot where she prepares to fight off an armed attacker, prefers the Klose K17. Interestingly, this pistol will receive a special finish in the Ultimate Edition, so fans should take a closer look.
There are also more exotic models. For example, an unidentified Capo pistol from a local gun brand—Raul Bautista is holding it in one of the screenshots. The same gun is seen in Jason’s hand during the liquor store robbery at the end of the first trailer. Apparently, the manufacturer will have its own line, and Capo is just one of them.
Also, in a shot of bikers from the Ambrosia region, one of them is armed with a Mustang .357 revolver made by Duke Arms Company. It’s easily recognizable by the logo and engraving on the side. This type of gun is clearly designed for those who value power and style.
Heavy Weapons and Grenade Launchers in GTA 6

The explosive moment from the second trailer, where Lucia destroys several police cars, has already become a meme. The weapon is a classic grenade launcher, familiar from previous installments. It seems it will be available at the right moment, when the situation requires drastic measures. And judging by the fact that the Ultimate Edition includes an explosive crate on the boat, the developers clearly want to give players the opportunity to have fun with fire from the very beginning.
How does the new weapon inventory work in GTA 6?
Rockstar Games has decided to completely redesign the mechanics of interacting with the arsenal—realism is now paramount. Forget the classic GTA 5 setup, where the main characters managed to hide a couple of machine guns, a grenade launcher, and a sniper rifle in the back pocket of their jeans. In GTA 6, characters are strictly limited by their physical capabilities, so carrying an entire inventory is no longer an option. Excess weapons will have to be managed wisely, and personal transportation will become a key element of logistics. The “carry everything you need” concept is being replaced by a system proven in Red Dead Redemption 2—only instead of saddlebags on your trusty horse, the trunk of your car in Vice City now serves as mobile storage for long-barreled weapons.

Specifics of Firing from Vehicles in GTA 6
Gunfights during chases have lost their former arcade appeal and have become much more challenging. In the second trailer, the developers vividly showed Jason firing a Beretta 92FS pistol directly from the car’s window, a scene that showcases pure gameplay rather than just a slick production design. The weapon’s behavior, recoil, and range now directly depend on the car’s movement, speed, and whether it’s taking a sharp turn. While previous games in the series dealt with “shooting through textures,” the car’s body now effectively blocks certain viewing angles, forcing the player to adapt to the physics of movement.
Underwater combat and melee weapons in GTA 6

Aquatic exploration has reached a new level, bringing back the full-fledged diving mechanics of San Andreas, but with a combat twist. GTA 6 will feature full-fledged underwater combat—a mechanic never before seen in the series. Firearms can be used at depth, but with severe penalties: water critically reduces bullet range and accuracy. For effective underwater skirmishes, you’ll need to switch to specialized equipment—a knife or a harpoon. Given the landscape of Leonida, with its endless swamps and the ocean coastline of Vice City, you’ll often find yourself tackling the depths.
NPC Reactions to Weapons in GTA 6
The behavior of Leonida residents has become adaptive and multi-layered. Commoners no longer react to weapons with a binary “panic or indifference.” If you pull out a rifle in the middle of a busy city boulevard, the crowd will immediately scatter, and bystanders will start frantically dialing 911 even before the first shot is fired. However, in the dense forests of Grassrivers, the appearance of a man with a gun is perceived as normal and doesn’t cause any shock among the local rednecks. The AI system now understands context: location, crowd density, and even the time of day.
GTA 5 vs GTA 6 Combat Parameters
Tactical loadouts in GTA 6
A study of the trends and mechanics of RDR 2 suggests that inventory limitations will inevitably lead to the introduction of a loadout customization system “On the fly.” Players will have to select weapons before the mission, as well as assemble tactical setups for specific tasks. For example: an “assault kit” for a frontal assault, with heavy armor and a shotgun in the car, or a “stealth kit” with silencers for urban operations to avoid attracting the attention of watchful NPCs.
Impact of new weapon mechanics on gameplay
-
Tactical planning: When going on a heist, you should stash rifles in the car in advance, leaving only a lightweight pistol on your body for concealment.
-
Water-based specifics: When trying to evade the cops by river, forget about machine guns—it’s more effective to immediately draw a knife or look for a harpoon gun.
-
Stealth factor: Displaying a gun in the city center instantly increases your wanted level, forcing you to holster your weapon for survival.
Melee and melee weapons in GTA 6

Rockstar is staying true to tradition here. Pool cues will be found in Vice City’s bars and dives—one screenshot shows Jason and Cal Hampton playing pool, and this item will likely be added to the roster. Another shot shows Cal swinging a miniature golf club—another classic for the series.
The baseball bat, it seems, won’t be going anywhere either: in a screenshot from Port Gellhorn, one of the characters is holding one, and it would be surprising if such a tried-and-true tool didn’t appear in the arsenal. And hammers—in the first trailer, social media clips showed a woman wielding a pair of hammers. They’ve already appeared in previous games, and the return of this brutal weapon seems entirely logical.
The list is impressive, and these are just the few we’ve spotted so far. Considering Rockstar’s fondness for adding unexpected weapons to DLC and updates, the final GTA 6 arsenal could be even more diverse. We’ll keep an eye on the news and be sure to update this article as new details emerge.
