The fascinating Fortnite Champion Series 2023, which displayed a titanic battle between the best esports organizations in the world on a grand stage, died down on October 15.

Experienced players compete for both the coveted title of champion and sizeable cash prizes in the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), a tournament of great importance since 2019. The FNCS brings together a wide range of talented competitors with divisions in North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, along with additional regions.

The four main tournaments at FNCS 2023 pitted the best Fortnite players against everyone else in an argument for supremacy. What’s their motivation for the tournament? To overcome challenging challenges and secure a spot in the exciting offline LAN tournament—the Global Championship, which will take place in the futuristic city of Copenhagen. Undoubtedly, this event stands as the largest offline esports extravaganza for Fortnite since the unforgettable Global Championship of 2019.

FNCS World Championship 2023

The FNCS World Championship spanned three days, kicking off on October 13 and culminating in the Grand Finals on October 15. Matches started at 10:00 AM Eastern Time each day and continued until 2:45 PM Eastern Time. Enthusiastic fans had the opportunity to purchase tickets and witness the event live in Copenhagen or catch the thrilling action at Legends Landing, where they could also win exclusive in-game FNCS rewards.

FNCS 2023 featured four major tournaments, pitting the most skilled Fortnite players

Tournament format

  • Upper Bracket (October 13): The buzz in the arenas was intense these days, growing with each passing second as 50 experienced duos from three specializations engaged in exciting competition. Over the course of five matches, points were awarded based on placements and eliminations, further heating up the atmosphere. The top 25 duos, based on their strengths, advanced to the Grand Final, demonstrating their achievements. Meanwhile, the bottom 25 duos, surprisingly, were in the lower bracket, determined to make up for lost time.
  • Lower Bracket (October 14): The stakes were high as the 25 duos from the upper bracket faced 24 duos from the Last Chance Major. Once again, they faced five challenging matches, where every placement and elimination mattered. The top 25 duos from this stage earned a golden ticket to the Grand Final, demonstrating their true motivation.
  • Grand Final (October 15): The day of the finals was a challenging one for the 25 elite duos in the upper bracket, who competed against 25 equally strong duos in the lower bracket. Six tough matches were at stake, and each duo had to give it their all, knowing that every placement and elimination could either improve or worsen their chances. The winning duo not only secured the top spot, but also hoisted the championship title.

Grand Final Results

As previously reported, the event featured the best Fortnite players meeting in the Grand Finals: 25 powerful duos, progressing through the upper and lower brackets, battled for victory. On the final day of the FNCS, players took positions in the Battle Royale mode for six days. Many Fortnite tournaments are ongoing, with points awarded through a knockout system, which added new emotions, reactions, and aggression.

FNCS World Championship spanned three days, kicking off on October 13 and culminating in the Grand Finals on October 15.

Cooper “Cooper” Smith and Matthew “Mero” Feitel showed their best play and a confident approach to secure victory and take home the FNCS trophy. The young esports stars were just in time: Mero was only 19 years old, while Cooper was 16. The prize pool was set at an equal $1 million.

But despite Cooper and Mero’s victory, the other participants in the tournament shouldn’t be forgotten. The FNCS 2023 Global Championship’s total prize pool was a whopping $4 million for the 75 finalists, $1 million more than last year’s FNCS Invitational. The increased prize pool demonstrates the growing importance and popularity of the Fortnite esports scene.
