Emptyvessel studio has rolled out the first gameplay trailer for its new game DEFECT, finally showing what we will be hacking into. Get ready to dive headlong into a dark cyberpunk shooter where you have to choose a side: cops or bandits. There is no exact release date yet, but you can sign up for the playtest right now. By the way, the guys from emptyvessel worked on DOOM, Call of Duty and The Last of Us, so they have a lot of experience!
Gameplay Features
- What immediately catches on in the gameplay is the cool Body Snatch feature. Like, you take the consciousness of a murdered friend and transfer it directly into the enemy’s body, making the bastard your own.
- Health does not heal itself, so you will have to look for medical centers, but remember that they do not have an eternal supply.
- And yet there is no one right way. Missions can be completed in different ways. You can boldly rescue hostages, riskily carry weapons, or effectively escape from a protected area.
DEFECT is a team–based shooter set in a dark cyberpunk setting where humanity is barely holding on. The city is run by THE SYSTEM, an evil AI for whom everything is just numbers.
You have to decide who you’re for: the cops of the System or the gangs that are fighting for territory. There will be a lot of tasks in the battles: from transporting weapons to eliminating targets or catching tough criminals. To survive, use everything you have: cool technology and deadly weapons.
The game is being made on Unreal Engine 5 and will be the first major work for emptyvessel. The music is written by Mick Gordon, who created the cool soundtrack for DOOM and Atomic Heart. The developers are planning a cooperative and a single-player game. Wait on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), the release date will be announced later.
In the near future, experts and developers plan to add cooperative and single-player modes to the sites, as well as share new details about the game world and its inhabitants. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it does have a Steam page.
