What is Dota 2’s storage space requirement?
In 2013 when Dota 2 was first released, it weighed just 8 GB. After a while, the game size has enlarged, as new features, heroes and game elements were added.
Although, according to Valve’s official requirements state, to successfully install Dota 2, you need at least 15 GB of free space on your PC. However, as of this year, Dota 2 will take up about 47 GB of disk space.
Can the Dota 2 space be decreased?
Unfortunately, there’s no way to lower the game size from its 47 GB in any significant way. You will just have to accept that the installation of Dota 2 requires that much space.
Hopefully, one day Valve will decide to launch an optimization update to reduce the disk space required for the game. As of now, you can at least delete match replay, screenshots, and game recordings, to save a few GBs, but remember that match replays are saved on Valve’s servers for about a week only. Also, what you can do is to remove unnecessary language files and unused downloadable content.
Nevertheless, for most experienced Dota 2 gamers, this information serves as a reminder that updates can take up space and you should regularly check and clear the disk space.
