God of War fans are wondering if a new installment of the series will be shown at The Game Awards 2025, scheduled for December 11th. Rumors about the Egyptian entourage are getting louder — thanks to actor Christopher Judge and leaks from insiders.
At the MCM London Comic Con, Judge, who voices Kratos in the latest games in the franchise, said bluntly: I want the action to spread to Egypt. However, he made a slip of the tongue — he has no idea what the studio is up to, he’s just dreaming out loud.
Insiders have been saying for a long time: Santa Monica Studio really looks towards Egyptian mythology. Rumor has it that Kratos will get a new main blade — most likely, a khopesh, reminiscent of the prince’s knife style from Prince of Persia. In previous installments, there have already been hints of Egypt, both in the concept art and in the small details of the game world.

Egypt may become the third point in the evolution of God of War — the sands, the pharaohs, Anubis with Ra instead of Odin.
How Egypt will change the gameplay: Weapons, enemies and mechanics
The gameplay of GoW 6 is able to transform radically. The Khopesh— a curved Egyptian blade, will unlock new khopesh mechanics: sweeping strikes, hooking opponents’ shields, and unique combos. Egyptian bosses like Seth or Apophis will require different tactics than Scandinavian trolls. Greece gave us blades, Norway gave us Leviathan. Egypt will bring something in between – combat changes will affect the pace of combat, sand magic and interaction with the environment. Deserts, tombs, and the Nile are all new game physics and exploration mechanics.
