Honor in League of Legends is not just a dry system of numbers and levels. It is a kind of “respect card” within the community, which Riot Games launched back in 2012. Its goal is very simple and close to every player: to reward those who play honestly, support the team and create an atmosphere that you want to return to again and again.
Imagine: only two weeks have passed since the update, and the number of praises given has exceeded 56 million! This means that millions of players around the world find a minute to press a button and say: “Hey, cool game, thanks for being there in battle.” It seems like a small thing, but it is nice.

Why do we need this system at all?
The more thanks you receive, the higher your honor level. A new player starts his journey from the second rank, and then he has the opportunity to step by step reach the fifth level and open rewards, chests and other in-game bonuses. It’s like a small quest, only the goal is not to kill dragons, but to gain respect from other summoners.
But there is a downside here too. If you start to behave toxically, swear in the chat or ruin the game for others, your progress rolls back, all the way to level one or zero. And that’s painful. No one wants to be known as that “dark purple nickname” that everyone avoids.
What does the honor level give in LoL and how to increase it faster
In League of Legends, the honor system plays a much more important role than it might seem at first glance. It reflects not only your skill level, but also what kind of ally you were on the battlefield. Want to grow higher? Then you will have to participate in matches more often, give it your all, and play fair. Praise from teammates is the best sign that you are moving in the right direction, and it accelerates your progress.
Riot Games sums up each season. You could say that it is a “reset”: both ranks and honor levels are reset so that the new year starts with a clean slate. So, the 13th season will end on January 3, 2024, and the 14th ranked year will start on January 9. If you had at least the second honor level at the end, then in the new season you will start not from scratch, but from the same point. A small bonus for those who played by the rules and maintained respect for others.

Progression through the levels is divided into three stages. Each new checkpoint is like a small victory, which the client program will notify you about with a pop-up notification. And, of course, rewards follow. The higher the level, the more pleasant and valuable the prizes. The only exceptions are “toxic” levels – zero and one, where there are no bonuses: this is a kind of reminder that negativity hinders not only the team, but also yourself.
All this works both ways. If you support your allies, help the team and do not let your emotions break out in the chat – your honor level is steadily growing. But if you break out into insults or, even worse, deliberately hinder your own – the consequences will be immediate:
-
progress will slow down if the offense is not critical,
-
chat restriction will lead to a level drop,
-
an account ban for up to 14 days will reset the entire scale.
A punished player is temporarily deprived of the chance to receive chests, keys and honor points. But it is important to remember: the system is not heartless. Once you prove that you can play fair and help the team, progress will resume and with it, the rewards will return.
All types of praise in LoL: what they give and how to get the glory badge
In League of Legends, praise is not just a checkbox in the menu after the match, but a real way to say “thank you” to someone who made the game more enjoyable. Each of us has difficult games when nerves are at their limit and it seems that victory is slipping away. And it is in such moments that support from an ally or even an opponent can mean a lot.
After the end of the game, you have 40 seconds to single out one player and note their behavior. It is like a small gesture of respect that can raise the mood of the person on the other side of the screen.
There are only three types of praise, but they accurately highlight different aspects of a good game:
-
“Did not lose spirit” – for those who did not give up even in the most difficult situation and managed to inspire the team.
-
“Excellent coordinator” – for players who took leadership, prompted and helped the team make the right decisions.
-
“Good game” – for those who showed kindness and helped their allies, even if the match did not go according to plan.
The results of these little “thank yous” can be seen in the battle results window. And what’s especially nice is that praise from opponents is valued even more than from allies.
If you collect three praises for one game, the system will reward you with the MVP (Most Valuable Player) status. A notification will appear in the chat, and you will receive additional honor points – a trifle, but very nice.
Term – Badge of glory. So you enter the next rink, and when the screen loads, a recognition symbol lights up next to your name. You have been appreciated – by two allies or at least one player from another team. If the majority of allies supported you, then absolutely everyone will see the mark of respect.
Honor System Rewards in League of Legends
In League of Legends, the Honor System is more than just a checkmark or a number in your profile. It’s a reflection of how you behave in a team. Did you support an ally? Did you not give up in a tough game? Praised for leadership or friendliness? All of this adds up to your Honor Level. And the higher it is, the more generous the rewards.
-
Mastery Chest – you can get it at any Honor level. It’s like a little surprise from the game: inside you’ll find Summoner icons, emotes, champion skin shards, or key parts. You never know what you’ll get, and that only adds to the excitement.
-
Key Fragments – pieces of a Hextech Key that are collected gradually. Even if you just play fair and keep your Honor level above zero, you’ll get up to 12 of these fragments per month. When you collect a whole key, you can open the chest and experience that very pleasant feeling of discovery.
-
Honor Orb – appears only for players with an honor level of 3 to 5. It is like a sign of respect from the system itself: “you are consistently good at the game and communication.” Key fragments and champion shards are always waiting inside.
-
Honor Capsule – an even more valuable reward, available at levels 3–5. It often contains emotes, champion images, and even totem skins. Each opening of such a capsule is like a small holiday.
The sign at the beginning of the match is what is especially nice. If you are praised by allies or even opponents, then in the next game everyone sees a special icon on the loading screen. It is like a public “respect” for your game.

And at the end of the season, a unique totem image is provided for players with honor levels 3–5. You cannot get such a reward anywhere else – it remains as a memory of an honest and friendly game.
How to find out your honor level in LoL
Checking your honor level is not difficult at all, literally a couple of clicks:
-
Log in to your League of Legends account.
-
Open your game profile.
-
To the left of the champion’s mastery scale, your honor level proudly flaunts itself.
Honor Badges in League of Legends
Imagine: a tough fight for the teams has just ended, the team praised you for playing fair or supporting — and when the next match loads, a shining honor badge appears on the screen. A small but very nice detail: the system seems to say, “Thank you, you’re great!”
True, the badge only lasts one match, so it’s an instant bonus for your behavior. And if you already have 4 or 5 honor levels, the badges look larger and more noticeable — they are simply impossible not to notice. A great way to stand out even before the game starts.

Honor Shop
The most interesting facts about rewards. League of Legends has an Honor Shop, and only a select few get there: players who have reached level 5. The store’s currency is tokens, they can be found in the Honor Capsule.
What can you exchange for these tokens?
-
Legendary Gray Warwick skin;
-
rare Medieval Twitch skin;
-
stylish sets for Warwick: “Sapphire”, “Rose Quartz”, “Meteorite”;
-
no less bright colorings for Twitch: “Sapphire”, “Amethyst”, “Obsidian”.
If you have already grown to the maximum level of honor, do not worry: there is nothing further to pump, but the system will still throw up new capsules and tokens. It turns out such a pleasant bonus for the fact that you play honestly and with respect for others.
Answers to frequently asked questions about searching in honor of LOL:
I already have Warwick and Twitch skins. Does that mean I won’t get rewards?
Don’t worry — you’ll definitely get some goodies! Even if you already have both of these skins in your collection, Honor Capsules will still bring useful and interesting bonuses: key fragments, stylish icons for the loading screen, end-of-season rewards, and other joys. We understand that duplicate skins are less exciting than something new. But the good news is that capsules will soon be replenished with fresh rewards, and the choice will become even more diverse.
Why can you now praise only one player per match?
We wanted to make praise feel truly special. When after a tense game you have the opportunity to single out only one person, it turns the mark into a real sign of respect, and not a formality.
Imagine: after a match, instead of handing out praise to everyone, you consciously choose the one who really helped, supported, or impressed you with their play. At this point, your praise becomes more than just a “thank you” — it’s an acknowledgement that the player will feel.
We also divided the praises into categories so that everyone who receives them understands what exactly they were recognized for. This is not just a sign of attention, but a small compliment with a specific meaning.
Yes, at first we thought about allowing you to choose several players at once. But in the end, we settled on one option to preserve the value of choice without taking up too much of your time after the match.
Do you miss the times when you could proudly bear the title of “honorable opponent”?
After all, even confrontation can be noble and honest! Of course, there are worthy guys among the enemies, but you must admit that during the game of League of Legends, you spend much more time side by side with your team. It is with your allies that you share the joy of victories, experience the bitterness of defeats and support each other. Therefore, the new honor system is focused on those who fight next to you.
We tried to make the process as simple as possible. Now everything is decided in a couple of clicks – only 2-4 options to choose from, and you have already marked the one who really deserves praise. No confusion and extra seconds, as it happened with 5-9 options. We understand that you want to be able to reward your opponents, because there are worthy players among them too. And you know what? We are thinking about it! But for now, these are just plans for the future.
Many people ask: “Where did my hundreds of marks from the old system go?”
We understand your feelings perfectly. It was a recognition, a small story of each match, and losing these marks may seem unfair. That is why we are preparing a nice gift for those who actively used the old system and shared respect with other players. Your contribution will not go unnoticed.
We sincerely thank everyone who once waited until the end of the match to praise an ally for kind words or a brave deed. We truly appreciate such players – it is you who create the atmosphere for which you want to return to LoL again and again. Now we are finishing the final preparations, and very soon we will tell you what exactly awaits you.
What is the best way to level up? Why is there no honor scale?
Imagine: you log into League of Legends, play a couple of games, try to help your teammates, don’t swear in the chat — and eventually notice that your honor level is gradually increasing. Sounds nice, right? In fact, this is exactly how the system works. The easiest way to level up is to just play, get praise, and not run into punishments. And here’s the cherry on the cake: if after the match each team member shares praise, everyone will receive a small but very nice bonus.
Many have already encountered a situation when a new honor level suddenly opens up, and this is really pleasing. But then the question arises: “Why is there no scale where I can see the progress?” I understand — you want to clearly know how close you are to the next reward. And the lack of this “success line” is sometimes annoying.
Riot explains it this way: a scale that would fill up over months would look boring and would drag you down emotionally. After all, the system is designed for an entire season. Therefore, instead of a dull slider, the game plans to do something else – send more frequent notifications that will show how exactly you are moving towards a new reward.
And this, frankly, is much cooler. Imagine you log in after a match, and the game says: “Most of your honor points came from leadership qualities” or “Allies especially appreciated your support.” Agree, such little things instantly lift your spirits and make it clear what other players value in you. Professional statistics in gameplay.
