Running a farm in Moonlight Peaks is a tricky business. While you’re getting to know the townspeople or dealing with their problems, the farm requires attention. And what if you’re also restoring your mother’s old house? System is key. Animals in this game aren’t just cute little faces. They bring in resources, help you earn money, and even influence your romance. Let’s figure out who’s who, how much they cost, and how to care for them all to maximize your farm’s benefits.

Animal Prices and Products in Moonlight Peaks

There are seven animal species available in Moonlight Peaks. They are purchased from Luna at her farm; three new ones are available for purchase every evening. Here’s a full list with prices and what they provide:

Animal Product Price
Cheeken Eggs 1,200 coins
Draculamb Draculamb Milk + Wool 4,500 coins
Cowcula Cowcula Milk 6,000 coins
Pig Goat Pig Goat Milk 3,500 coins
Stoney Stone Hearts 9,000 coins
Rabbicula TBC TBC
Bumpkin Plushies 12,000 coins

Cheeken is the most accessible animal; it can be obtained as early as the second day through the “Animals for Sale” quest. Draculamb, Cowcula, and Pig Goat become available after building your first barn. Stoney, Bumpkin, and Rabbicula are animals that aren’t available until later. Stoney only appears in the winter of Year 1, Bumpkin in the fall of Year 1, and Rabbicula in the spring of Year 2.

How to Build an Animal Barn in Moonlight Peaks

Before you can run to Luna for animals, you need a barn. Without one, there’s simply nowhere to house the animals.

Here’s the exact sequence:

  • Day 2, Spring — Ridge stands at your door, offering to fix your roof for free. Agree and bring him 50 wood (cut down trees around the farm).
  • That same day — a letter from Luna appears in your mailbox. Read it to start the quest “Animals for Sale.”
  • Go to Luna at her farm — she’ll show you the Cheekens and explain that they need a barn.
  • Day 4 — the roof is ready. Now Ridge is waiting for you at the Howling Hammer forge. Select “Shop” in the dialogue box, go to the second tab, and buy the barn for 4,000 coins.
  • Place the barn on the farm — it requires a 10×6 space. Construction takes one night.
  • Once built, return to Luna and claim your first Cheeken.

One shed can hold up to four animals. It can’t be upgraded—only new ones can be built. To house all seven, you’ll need at least two sheds, or preferably three, depending on the animals’ preferences.

Animal Care Rules Feeding and Friendship

Animals in Moonlight Peaks are demanding creatures. Their productivity directly depends on their happiness level. And happiness depends on your attention.

Feeding. You need to fill the feeder in the shed every day. Feed is made in the Purifier (given by Ridge after repairing the roof): 1 Fiber = 2 servings of feed. The feeder holds up to 100 servings at a time—you can stock it up for a long time without worrying. You can also make premium feed: 50 regular feed + 1 Mana Essence. Premium feed really improves the animals’ mood, while regular feed simply prevents them from falling from hunger. Petting and talking. Daily petting improves the quality of their output. And if you approach an animal as a Hellcat, you’ll be able to understand their speech. Sometimes they’ll directly tell you what they need. Talking can replace petting for a day—a nice bonus.

Happy farm animals together

Cleanliness. Animals produce fertilizer. If they aren’t cleaned regularly, the barn will overflow, which impacts their happiness.

Music. When you get a gramophone, play it in the barn—music also improves friendship.

Animal Compatibility Chart in Moonlight Peaks

Animals in Moonlight Peaks have their own likes and dislikes. Here’s a tried and true guide:

  • Draculamb – only with other Draculambs, not with Cowcula.
  • Cowcula – with Cowcula, Stoney, and Pig Goat.
  • Bumpkin – with Rabbicula, but not with Cowcula.
  • Stoney – with Cheeken.
  • Pig Goat – with Stoney.
  • Rabbicula and Cheeken – no Cowcula in the same neighborhood.

It’s recommended to buy at least three sheds to ensure each animal has a comfortable place and their happiness remains at its highest.

How to Make Money Quickly on a Farm Beginner Guide

You start the game with only 600 coins. A shed costs 4,000. How do you save up?

  • Your first goal is Cheeken (1,200 coins). Eggs provide a stable income. A regular egg sells for 20 coins. If you’re lucky with a Golden Egg, it’ll sell for 85. Cheeken pays for itself in a matter of days.
  • The second target is the Pig Goat (3,500 coins). Pig Goat milk is used to make cheese through the Press, selling for more.
  • The third is the Draculamb (4,500 coins). It yields both milk and wool—two resources from a single animal.

Cowcula (6,000) and Stoney (9,000) are expensive, but their products are valuable. Bumpkin (12,000) is the most expensive, available in the fall.

A quick start tip: plant grapes—blood and white. They yield a harvest every few days. Process them in barrels to make wine and juice—this will help you save up for a barn faster. And don’t forget the notice board—it opens on the 16th day of spring and provides a good side income.

How to Get Golden Eggs in Moonlight Peaks

Golden eggs are one of the most pleasant surprises in the game.

How to get them: Keep Cheekens in the barn and feed them every day. The chance increases if you feed them premium food. Check the barn every night – golden eggs drop randomly, but rarely.

Where to use:

  • Sell to Chester for 85 coins (versus 20 for regular).
  • Use in recipes – some dishes require golden eggs.
  • Give to characters – this is one of the best gifts for romantic interests. Almost everyone loves golden eggs.

Be sure to save one – you’ll need it for a mission later.

Secrets of Breeding Animals in Moonlight Peaks

Beware of Rabbicula. These fluffy creatures love to feast on your garden beds. If you don’t fence your garden, you’ll have to constantly keep an eye on them.

Draculamb and Flowers. Draculamb seeks out red flowers to eat. Keep them away from the hives, otherwise honey production may decrease.

Fertilizer. Don’t forget to collect fertilizer in the barn—it’ll come in handy for your garden beds and save you money on store-bought fertilizer.

In Moonlight Peaks, animals aren’t just decoration. It’s a fully-fledged economic system. With the right strategy, your farm will begin generating a stable income by the end of the first spring. Feed them, pet them, and monitor compatibility. And check the barn for golden eggs—maybe your Cheeken has decided to surprise you today.
