There is a big scandal in Rockstar Games: the British IWGB trade union means that the company intends to get rid of activists.

As soon as a number of layoffs occurred on October 30, affecting workers in Britain and Canada, the IWGB sounded the alarm. They claim that members of their trade union group at Discord, who had just started active work at Rockstar, were being cut.

Rockstar Scandal: Massive Layoffs amid GTA 6 Development

In response to this seemingly deliberate attack on the collective voice of employees, the Rockstar Union said it had no intention of giving up. Its participants remain determined to fight for respect and better working conditions. After all, they are the ones who put their strength, creativity and soul into projects that are adored by millions of players around the world.

A categorical denial followed from the publisher of Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games itself. The companies insist that the dismissals are the result of extremely gross violations of corporate ethics and discipline, and not some kind of “cleansing” for political reasons. In their statement, the representatives emphasize that the studio’s culture is based on three pillars: team spirit, striving for the ideal and mutual respect.

Unfortunately, labor rights issues have become a sad norm for the gaming industry. This incident especially casts a shadow over the studio, which is currently at the epicenter of the development of one of the most high—profile projects of the decade – Grand Theft Auto VI, whose release is scheduled for May 26, 2026.
