GTA 6 Editions Compared: Standard vs Ultimate, Red Dead Redemption 2 Mechanics & All Pre-Order Bonuses - Image 1
2 hours ago vpesports

Rockstar Games has just released key details about GTA 6, with only a few hours left until pre-orders start. The developers not only announced the prices for the standard and Ultimate editions, but also showed fresh screenshots, and also revealed unexpected nuances of the plot structure. And, apparently, surprises await fans.

Chapter based story campaign and multiplayer

One of the most intriguing moments is the absence of an analogue of GTA Online at launch. Rockstar seems to have decided to focus on the single-player campaign, with multiplayer planned to be released later, perhaps as a separate project. This is not the first such step – remember Red Dead Online, which did not appear right away.

Marketing details indicate that in the description of the Ultimate Edition bonuses, the phrase flashed about new items “behind each chapter.” This is a direct indication that GTA 6, like Red Dead Redemption 2, will be divided into chapters. Let us remember that in RDR2 there were eight of them – six main ones and two epilogues. How many chapters GTA 6 will receive is still a mystery, but fans are already speculating. Considering that Rockstar is known for its large-scale stories, we can assume that we will have at least ten chapters in store to justify the many years of waiting. However, the exact number and total duration of the campaign remain a mystery.

By the way, pre-order bonuses also did not go unnoticed – they are inspired by the cult GTA: Vice City. Pre-order starts on June 25 at midnight local time. It is funny, but physical copies of the game will not contain discs – only an activation code. This may be disappointing for collectors, but the digital trend has been gaining momentum for some time now.

Overview of Standard and Ultimate Editions

The price difference between the two main versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 is exactly $20. For this overpayment, Rockstar Games offers gamers not banal cosmetic reskins, but a completely tangible layer of single-player content, which is integrated directly into the story campaign of Jason and Lucia.

The $79.99 Standard Edition base pack gives players the full story without any cut-down missions or artificial performance limitations. At the same time, the $99.99 Ultimate Edition expands the in-game world by adding an exclusive garage, six premium cars, four unique guns, access to five commercial locations and a separate mission to infiltrate the protected base of the PTT Youngin gang.

The main feature of the premium edition lies in the distribution of bonuses – all the content does not fall into the heroes’ inventory in the first hour of the game. Rewards will open gradually, giving out one package per chapter. Exactly the same mechanics “new items for each chapter” have previously appeared in leaks, which once again confirms the structure of the narrative of the future GTA 6.

Comparison of bonuses between two editions of GTA 6

By the way, a nice bonus in the form of the Vintage Vice City Pack is guaranteed to buyers of both versions if you pre-order before November 19th. This retro pack includes a classic ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan along with space in the Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, authentic costumes for the main characters and a weapon camo inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s famous Hawaiian shirt. In this regard, the Ultimate Edition does not provide any advantages – the starter pack is absolutely identical.

Which edition of Grand Theft Auto 6 should I buy?

  • The $80 Standard is an ideal choice for those who are only interested in the story of Jason and Lucia, and car collecting and customization are not a priority. The storyline here is complete, and no one hid missions critical for the finale behind a paywall.
  • Ultimate for $100 – a must-have for hardcore fans who want to get the most out of the open world from the day of release. Buyers of this edition will see five unique stores closed for the basic version and go through a full-fledged operation against PTT Youngin$.

If you are still hesitant about paying more right away, Rockstar Games has good news. You can upgrade the game to the Ultimate Edition separately at any convenient time after release. It looks like this is the most reasonable option: take Standard, evaluate the scale of Vice City, and then buy additional DLC without shelling out a hundred dollars on the first day. Of all the surcharges, only four powerful guns and a bonus task have real value – the rest of the content is aimed purely at aesthetes and collectors.

We talked in more detail about the plot, map, gameplay and platforms in a separate article – there you will also find everything that is known about GTA 6 today.
