960,000 CS2 Accounts Banned: Inside Valve’s New Anti-Farm Strategy Targeting Skin Warehouses - Image 1

The developers of Counter-Strike 2 have released the most extensive purge report in recent months — almost a million accounts have been distributed. As it turned out, Valve has completed an investigation into the activities of farms that were engaged in the extraction of in-game loot. The result is impressive: 960,000 accounts were permanently banned. The information was confirmed by Ido Magal (ido_valve) on Reddit, thanking the community separately for the tips.

“Yesterday we blocked 960,000 accounts of bots engaged in farming. This was the result of a large-scale investigation, in which user messages helped us. Thank you!” — Ido Magal (ido_valve).

Features of Valve’s New CS2 Sweep

The main advantage of this “verdict” is its unprecedented reach. Previously, Gabe and the company had targeted the bots themselves, but now, for the first time, Valve massively covered the “warehouses” — the very profiles where the stuffed skins and cases were deposited for further resale. Apparently, the tactics of fighting the shadow market have changed.

The situation with farms has been dragging on for years and directly affects the Steam economy — automated software pumps out items that then go to third-party sites for real money. The previous waves of bans in 2026 looked rather modest against this background. Previously, large inventory stores were almost not touched — now the entire logistics chain of boosters is under attack.

Why is this important for the economy of Steam and ordinary players?

For the average Counter-Strike 2 user, such news is a definite plus. When the market is oversaturated with “farm” goods, the value of legitimately obtained skins drops. Moreover, the work of hundreds of thousands of bots creates an unnecessary load on Valve servers.

  • Scale: 960,000 accounts is a record high for 2026.
  • A blow to the wallet: Destroying the “warehouses” means losing millions of dollars in the equivalent of skins.
  • Method: Valve used player reports as the main data source for analytics — (and it worked).

It seems that the developers have seriously taken up the purity of their main discipline before the upcoming major tournaments. A coincidence? Unlikely. Rather, it’s a signal to all lovers of easy money: the rules of the CS2 game are getting tougher.
