Tomb Raider: Remake of the first part is close to announcement
A RaidersSociety insider reported on the upcoming remake of the original Tomb Raider. Do not confuse it with the remaster — a complete reinterpretation of the classics is planned here.
The source insists: the development is heading towards the finish line. There is still no official confirmation from the publisher. But the rumors are gaining momentum.
The first Tomb Raider appeared in 1996 thanks to Core Design. Since then, the franchise has gone through many transformations. Remember the Crystal Dynamics trilogy from 2006-2008— where Tomb Raider: Anniversary has already acted as a kind of remake, linking the plot with Legend and Underworld.
Anniversary later received a remaster. But the new project, according to insiders, will be something more. A modern remake is able to open a fresh branch of the adventures of the legendary seeker.
Crystal Dynamics has long hinted at a continuation of the series. In 2024, the company unveiled an updated look for Lara Croft in the iconic blue top. Nobody waited for the announcement of the game.
There are rumors about a project with a grown-up heroine. Lara will probably train young adventurers. Details are expected to be revealed in 2025, possibly at The Game Awards on December 11.
By the way, by the beginning of December, Ubisoft’s market capitalization had dropped below a billion dollars again. Difficult times for the gaming industry.
A separate story is the Tomb Raider series for $100 million. His fate hung in the air on April 10, 2025. Cancellation is quite real.
