Hotta continues to transform NTE—a game often called the “anime GTA”—into something much deeper. The studio is preparing a major update, 1.2, which will be released on July 8th and will fundamentally change the rules of the game, introducing mechanics inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and classic JRPGs.

What will the “999 Nights” mode bring?
This is the key innovation of the patch. “999 Nights” is not just another skin or cosmetic, but a full-fledged role-playing session, tearing players away from the familiar Hetherau and into new fantasy locations. The developers have taken great pains to create the content from the ground up:
-
Bestiary: A host of unique enemies will be added, requiring a change of tactics.
-
Loot and Equipment: The item system has been thoroughly overhauled.
Equipment is now divided into five categories, opening up much more scope for build creation. In addition to RPG elements, the roster will be expanded with two top-tier characters—Shinku and Iroi. (Yes, their designs clearly stand out from the current roster of available fighters.)
New Items for Collection and Comfort
For those who prefer more relaxed gameplay, NTE also has something to offer. Fishing has finally been polished: you can now display your caught catches in your apartment, making it easier to show off to friends. And for those who prefer speed, Hotta will add a new motorcycle to the game.
Overall, NTE will be much more content-rich on July 8th. And, apparently, this is just the first step—the developers have much more ambitious plans. The success of the mode will determine whether similar experiments are worth expecting in the future.
