Noble Securities analysts have confirmed their forecast: The Witcher 4 will be released in the fourth quarter of 2027. The report, published on StockWatch, allays investor concerns raised by the announcement of the “Song of the Past” expansion for The Witcher 3. The DLC itself, incidentally, has been officially postponed to 2027, having been initially expected earlier.
The development team has grown from 499 to 513 people in a year. The game’s production budget has been reduced from 1.4 to 1.26 billion zlotys, with a significant portion of the funds being reallocated to the expansion. However, the full budget, including marketing, according to Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, reaches 2.8 billion zlotys (~$780 million). For comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 cost $335 million, while The Witcher 3 cost $81 million. The difference is colossal.
What about the expansion? “Song of the Past” (officially titled “Ballads of the Past”) will increase in price from $30 to $35, and the first-year sales forecast has been raised from 11 million to 15 million copies. The DLC budget has skyrocketed from 52 million to 152 million zlotys—the developers aren’t skimping. They say this isn’t just “another quest”—the expansion is comparable in scale to “Blood and Wine.” It will be revealed at Gamescom 2026.
The remake of the first “Witcher,” developed by Fool’s Theory, has been delayed from 2028 to 2029. The report also mentions other, as-yet-unannounced CD Projekt RED projects—three titles by market cap, two of which are games. Details? None yet.
Notable: CD Projekt RED has officially stated that The Witcher 4 will not be released in 2026. No date has been announced. Q4 2027 is an analyst forecast, not an official announcement. Coincidence? Unlikely. Analysts are confidently aiming for the end of 2027, but there’s no official confirmation from the studio yet.
What’s next? We’re waiting for Gamescom—they promise details on DLC there. In the meantime, fans can only wait for news and keep an eye on CDPR’s reports. The Witcher 4’s release in Q4 2027 is not currently in jeopardy. But remember: this is just a forecast.
