Just the day after the presentation of Nacon Connect 2026, where Edge of Memories received a prominent slot in the showcase, unexpected news appeared online: Origami announced that Nacon had put up for sale the Midgar studio — the very people who make this game.
The timing in itself speaks volumes. Showing the project to the public and at the same time looking for a new owner for its developers is not the best signal either for the studio or for fans of the game.

Spiders Studio has already closed — Midgar Studio can repeat its fate
Nacon already has a painful precedent. The Spiders studio, known for the RPG GreedFall, was also put up for sale — and no buyer was found. Bottom line: the team was shut down.
Now Midgar finds itself in a similar situation. If the deal doesn’t go through, the studio could suffer the same fate. This is especially alarming given that Edge of Memories is still in development, and the project risks simply not being released.
Nacon Crisis: which studios are under threat of closure in 2026

The publisher’s problems are not limited to one studio. The overall picture is pretty bleak:
-
Big Bad Wolf (Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss) is also rumored to be on the verge of closure, although this has not been officially confirmed.
-
Kylotonn — according to reports, there have been staff reductions.
-
Midgar Studio — put up for sale, fate unknown.
None of these stories look optimistic.
Gaming Industry Crisis: Why Nacon can’t Sell its Studios
The situation is aggravated by the general crisis in the gaming industry. The number of studio mergers and acquisitions has noticeably decreased — it is much more difficult to find a buyer today than it was two or three years ago. Nacon is apparently trying to avoid a repeat of the Spiders story, but there are no guarantees.
For the Midgar developers themselves, this is not just corporate news — it’s uncertainty about jobs and the future of a project they’ve invested years of work in.
What will happen to Edge of Memories if Midgar Studio does not find a buyer
So far, there have been no official statements from either Nacon or Midgar Studio. The development of the game is formally ongoing, but in what composition and under what flag is a big question.
We will keep an eye on developments. If there are new details about the fate of the studio or the project itself, we will update the material.
