For years, publishers have been rescheduling their releases to avoid being overtaken by Rockstar Games, but that will change in late 2026. While the industry is massively clearing its calendar to avoid being crushed by Grand Theft Auto VI, a couple of major players have unexpectedly decided to buck the trend. At the recent State of Play and Summer Game Fest, it became clear that November would be Rockstar Games’s exclusive month, and major studios opted to play it safe. But according to inside information from the authoritative billbil-kun, there’s room in the schedule for two industry veterans willing to take the risk.

The Battle for Audience: Why Atari is Betting on Godzilla vs. Grand Theft Auto VI?

Atari was the first to throw down the gauntlet. The publisher decided to release Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered right at the beginning of the month, with a release date scheduled for November 3. An updated version of the fighting game from the original Pipeworks team, which once (back in October 2002) took the Gamecube by storm and later made its way to the Game Boy Advance, is getting ready for release on current platforms. This remastered classic will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. It’s a daring move, to say the least, but the company has its trump cards.

According to billbil-kun, kaiju fans can expect more than just visuals updated to modern standards. The developers have completely redesigned the progression system—monsters, new arenas, and gallery content can now be unlocked in any order. Furthermore, the remaster will feature full online multiplayer, interactive environments (yes, buildings in locations can be effectively smashed right on top of your opponents), and fresh story campaigns for each monster. The game will definitely receive disc versions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, but PC players will have to wait—a PC port is currently in limbo. The price tag has also been announced: the digital release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will cost $29.99 (approximately 2400 rubles), while Nintendo console owners will have to pay an extra ten, with the price being $39.99 (approximately 3200 rubles).

A cult classic returns: THQ Nordic is bringing Gothic 3 Classic to consoles.

THQ Nordic is the second brave soul to take on Rockstar Games’ dangerous game. According to an insider at Dealabs, the Austrian publisher is preparing to release Gothic 3 Classic.

The RPG is scheduled for release on November 24—just a week after Grand Theft Auto VI begins to tear up the charts and consume all of gamers’ free time. The third Gothic game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It seems the game is targeting a dedicated fanbase and nostalgia, as the audiences of the gritty European RPG and Rockstar Games’ crime action game only partially overlap. Whether this will help the releases weather the November storm remains to be seen this fall.
