Techies is one of the infuriating heroes of Dota 2. The character is not one, but three demolition chipmunks at once: Squee, Splin and Spoon. Together, they control a makeshift trolley, scatter mines, plant bombs, and even use a stun gun, turning any battle into a chaotic fireworks display.

Techis’ choice is rare at its peak, but it was strong in 2017. The hero is difficult to manage and requires outside-the-box thinking. Techies almost does not appear at professional tournaments — his abilities are not suitable for classic team battles. However, in normal matches, the miner places mines in secret locations with an explosion.

Who are Techies in Dota 2

Miners are mobile heroes who move around on a cart and form deadly traps. They don’t need to farm gold or collect artifacts for a long time — the chipmunks are ready to join the battle almost immediately, bypassing the enemy’s defense lines. Their main weapon is mines, which deal penetrating damage and are capable of destroying even a strong tank.

Masters of subversive art

Techies are the choice of those who like non—standard solutions. The hero is not about direct attacks, but about strategy, patience and creativity. Often, the team appears to be in the minority, because miners rarely participate in head-on battles, but with the right game they make a vector of changes in their favor, destroying the enemy carrier with one well-laid field.

The Subversives have five abilities that can be improved as the game progresses.:

  • STICKY BOMB — the chipmunk throws an explosive device that sticks to the enemy, stuns him and causes powerful damage. Sometimes the bombers use this trick even for a suicide attack.
  • Electric charge (REACTIVE TAZER) — creates a field that prevents opponents from using spells and removes their positive effects. After upgrading, the ability can strengthen allies.
  • BLAST OFF — a desperate leap into the thick of the battle, followed by an explosion that hits everyone around. The heroes take some of the damage, but survive.
  • MINEFIELD SIGN — the installation of dangerous mines marked with only a tiny sign. The upgrade increases the mining radius.
  • An invisible mine (PROXIMITY MINES) is a deadly trap that is triggered when an enemy approaches. If he does not have time to bounce back, the consequences will be fatal.

Tactics and strategy

You need to play for Techis with cunning and understanding of the opponent’s move in advance. Chipmunks often attack suddenly and immediately hide, luring enemies into pre-prepared traps. While chasing them, the enemy often hits invisible mines and minefields, losing momentum and positions.

Minefields prevent the enemy from advancing along the lines, protecting towers and tactical points. In a single-player duel, most Dota 2 heroes can defeat Techis if they don’t let him prepare. do not underestimate the miners — and one wrong step will result in a series of explosions and defeat.

Counter Peaks of Techis in Dota 2

Playing against Techis is not an easy challenge. The miner is able to bring everyone to the edge. But if you know who’s going to stop the Leak, you can defeat the Chipmunks easily and beautifully.

How to play against miners

The main rule is no chasing. You should not run after the bomber, especially into the forest: it is there that he most often sets deadly traps. It is better to destroy his mines from a safe distance — heroes with a large range of attack can do this perfectly without losses.

Techies often resort to suicide tactics — they explode next to the enemy in order to inflict maximum damage before returning to base. This is often more than 300 damage points, and such a sacrifice is justified for them.

In fact, almost any Dota 2 hero can counter Techis if you play wisely. However, characters who can fly or ignore minefields have a special advantage.

Techies Dota 2 on the line

Counter peaks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On the middle line, the flow will be bad in leyte. Classic middlemen like Templar Assassin or Broodmother easily get the better of him. If a miner suddenly finds himself in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, most likely, a novice is sitting behind him.

Techis’ strongest counter-attacks on the Foreign Ministry:

  • Anti-Mage — burns out mana, preventing the bomber from activating mines;
  • Templar Assassin — protected by the ability of Refraction, makes it almost invulnerable to mines;
  • Broodmother — Releases spider scouts clearing minefields;
  • Rubick — can steal Techis’ abilities and turn traps against the miner himself;
  • Arc Warden — temporarily becomes immune to damage by passing through mines without consequences.

With proper reaction, any long-range magician or shooter can confidently play against miners. Arc Warden— a counterpick capable of neutralizing Leaks almost alone, is especially effective.

Counter peaks on the line

Survival is on the nada line. Here, heroes who are invulnerable to magical damage or able to bypass traps show themselves.:

  • Juggernaut;
  • Lifestealer;
  • Wraith King;
  • Sniper;
  • Zeus.

Sniper is one of Techis’ best counterpicks. His long-range attacks tend to take down chipmunks without the risk of detonation.

How to bring down Techis’ abilities

Techis has no passive effects — all his abilities are active, and they are based on magic. Therefore, any hero with control, breaking the distance or protection from magic will be able to neutralize it.

Who is the best counter Techies

According to statistics, the highest win rate against Techis is shown:

  • Bristleback;
  • Templar Assassin;
  • Medusa;
  • Mars;
  • Juggernaut;
  • Lifestealer;
  • Keeper of the Light;
  • Gyrocopter;
  • Tidehunter;
  • Leshrac;
  • Timbersaw;
  • Bane.

However, you should not focus only on the win rate — Techis rarely engages in dueling fights. He can lose a skirmish, but inflict great damage on the entire opposing team.

Bane — his control neutralizes the miner before he can activate the explosion.

Bane Dota 2

In general, Techies has a negative win rate of about 43%, which indicates its weakness in direct collisions.

Who is being countered by Techis himself

Low stats, miners are dangerous against heroes with low health reserves. They die before they even get to the bomber.

They get hit:

  • Meepo;
  • Slark;
  • Lone Druid;
  • Naga Siren;
  • Lycan.

With proper play, Techis is able to weaken enemy carries, slow down the push and protect the bases from attacking waves.

Items against Leaks

To resist on a trap-strewn island, it’s worth collecting items to protect against magic and detect mines.:

  • Black King Bar (BKB) — blocks damage from explosions and allows you to pass through minefields;
  • Pipe of Insight — form a shield that absorbs the magical damage of the entire team;
  • Gem of True Sight — reveals mines and invisible traps;
  • Sentry Ward is a budget option for mine detection.

If Techis collected Aghanim’s Scepter, the situation becomes more complicated — his mines are invisible even to these artifacts.

Result

Techies is a controversial hero in Dota 2. He is vulnerable up close, but at a distance he can cause a lot of problems. It can be defeated through ranged combat, magical protection and competent positioning.

The main thing is to keep a cool head and not run after the bomber into the bushes. Then even the most cunning chipmunks won’t be able to surprise you.
