The Orcish Cemetery in Gothic 1 Remake is the final frontier before the end of Chapter 2. It is here, amidst bones and darkness, that the last Templar, Baal Lukor, hides, along with the clue to the orcs’ connection to the Sleeper. After the ceremony at the Swamp Camp Temple turned into a failure, the only way out is through a giant skull-shaped stone door. And yes, this place isn’t for the faint of heart: hordes of greenies, traps, and a couple of puzzles. But we’ll tell you how to get through it with minimal damage to your nerves and health.
You should start by talking to Talas—he’s sitting under a canopy to the right of the Temple exit. Follow him to the bridge, and he’ll show you the way to the coveted door.

From there, it’s pure action. Along the way, you’ll encounter Bloodhound, Biters, and Orc scouts. After disposing of them, be sure to pick up the short bow and arrows from the ground to the right of the skull door. Then, shoot at the two wooden lock targets on either side of the entrance. A little lifehack: aim slightly above the locks—your arrow will fall in an arc, and the compensation will save you from unnecessary reloads.

The door is open, and ahead are tunnels filled with orcs. These guys hit hard and love to stun you with a three-hit combo. The best tactic is to keep your distance, use a bow or magic, and then quickly strike after their third swing while paused. If you prefer melee combat, stock up on potions and remember to save often. There are many battles here, and any mistake can send you back to the last checkpoint.

As you progress through the corridors, you’ll encounter Baal Lukor in one of the side rooms. Help him fight off the orcs, then exhaust all dialogue options. Next comes a challenge: you need to find two parts of the key to open the stone door. The first half is on an orc’s corpse in the left corridor. Drop down the hole on the left, deal with the two orcs, and examine the barred door—a broken lever hangs next to it.

Exit the room, go straight ahead to the corridor, turn left, killing a couple more orcs along the way. In the room where you have to jump down, examine the bodies—you’ll find an Orc Lever on the ground next to two corpses. Return to the broken mechanism, operate the lever, and the door will open. Take the second half of the key, speak with Baal Lukor, and climb up to the stone door. Use the Tombstone Key you just assembled—it will open.
Four orcs await you in the next room. After defeating them, take the ruby from the altar. Behind the altar are stone steps leading to another door—Baal Lukor will open it with his Focus Stone.

Follow him into the final room, listen to what he has to say, and… prepare for battle. Yes, you’ll have to fight him. After defeating him, take the Focus Stone, then search the room—the Sword of Fear lies there. In the chest in the hallway, you’ll find a Warrior’s Ring of Power, potions, and scrolls, and on the upper level, two more chests containing useful loot.

Return to the Swamp Camp and report to Kor Angar. The quest is complete, the chapter is closed. The reward is 2,000 experience and ore nuggets. Even darker secrets of the Sleeper await you further on, but that’s a whole other story.
Worth noting: If you feel the orcs are too strong, try luring them out one at a time with a bow—this will avoid stunning combos and save potions. And don’t forget to collect everything that glitters—even the little things pay off when you return to camp.

Preparing for the Orc Graveyard: Level and Builds
The Orc Graveyard is unforgiving—the locals easily unleash 40-60 damage attacks, and you won’t be able to refill your health bar in the heat of battle. The optimal threshold for entering this location is level 15-20. By this point, it’s highly recommended to have 70+ Strength and fully master one- or two-handed weapons. Let’s figure out what to stock your inventory with before Talas leads you to the massive skull-topped gate.
The Best Weapons Against Orcs in Gothic 1 Remake
Two-handed swords and axes are more effective than one-handed blades in these catacombs. This is because orcs prefer to attack in groups of two or three opponents, and the wide range of a two-handed sword’s sweeping attack allows it to hit multiple enemies at once.
If your build is focused on one-handed weapons, be sure to increase your Strength to a value that minimizes damage penalties. A bow will be a must-have for every gamer (yes, even for dedicated Strength players). Without it, you simply won’t be able to activate the hidden target locks on the doors, and arrows are much more effective at luring out individual monsters from a crowd.
What to buy from merchants before descending into the mine
You’ll have to stock up on consumables as much as possible—there are no merchants inside. Mages should focus on Mana Essences, while warriors should fill their slots with the best healing elixirs. Also, take a closer look at summoning scrolls like “Army of Darkness” or transformation spells, which greatly simplify clearing narrow corridors.
Mage and Warrior Leveling for Clearing Catacombs
If you rely on ranged combat, increased agility will significantly increase bow damage, which is critical for quickly eliminating targets at a distance. Magic adepts will only need to master the Circle of Fire—spells like Fireball or Rain of Fire allow you to annihilate groups of orcs without letting them even get within striking distance.
The most important thing that is often forgotten in this location is timely saves. Be sure to make a manual save before jumping into the gap on the left and immediately before the dialogue that initiates the final battle with Baal Lukor. Believe me, these are the places where unprepared players most often lose all progress.
