Hideo Kojima has announced Physint for the next generation of consoles, a game in which the production of a spy thriller is already entering the stage of motion capture and casting. According to information obtained by MP1st, the game design team is looking for actors to play the passengers of the hijacked bus and the main antagonist with a German accent, described as “Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal, only with even more charisma.” All this is happening under the working title “Shimmer” — and while fans are wondering if they will live to see the release on PS6, Kojima is steadily moving forward on three major projects at once.

Physint is a return to the roots of stealth action on a Hollywood scale

Physint was announced back in 2024, and since then, the creator of Metal Gear Solid has managed to finish Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and simultaneously conduct an OD for Microsoft. Nevertheless, the collaboration with PlayStation has not gone to the back shelf. On the contrary, casting, which is the responsibility of Mari Ueda (who previously worked on the Death Stranding sequel), is gaining momentum. The participation of Charlie Frazier, Dawn Lee and Minami Hamabe has already been confirmed, and this is just the beginning.

stealth action cinematic scene

Kojima himself calls Physint his return to the genre of stealth action and spy stories, the very territory where he once built a name. The project is designed to be extremely cinematic, so the presence of Hollywood faces is completely natural.

Who Kojima is looking for: bus passengers and a villain with a German accent

New casting details lift the veil over the atmosphere of the future game. Other roles include:

  • mother and child in a hijacked bus;
  • a group of teenagers;
  • several adult characters.

But the central find is the description of the main villain. The actor is 50-70 years old, slim build, height 178 cm. The character should exude a calm, almost hypnotic menace—confident, psychotic, with the cold detachment of a murderer. The creators directly refer to the image of Mads Mikkelsen in the role of Hannibal Lecter, adding the requirement of a German accent. Perhaps the best illustration of how high Kojima raises the bar of acting.

Menacing villain portrait cinematic

Motion capture scenes will start in the coming months, but don’t forget: Physint is at a very early stage. Some episodes can be shot exclusively for the vertical cut or the debut trailer.

When to wait for the release and why is it taking a long time?

The game designer himself estimates the production cycle at five to six years. That’s an ambitious figure, even for a next-generation PlayStation-co-funded game. But the result promises to be not just another action game, but a potentially new cult franchise in the spirit of Metal Gear Solid.

All that remains is to be patient and keep an eye on new casting announcements. Judging by the description of the antagonist, Kojima is preparing another performance where the characters will be no less important than the mechanics of the stealthy passage itself.
