Valve has introduced a new system — now professional teams participating in Counter-Strike 2 tournaments are required to declare possible conflicts of interest.

According to the updated rules, players and organizations must openly disclose all their business relationships with other participants in the esports scene.

The situation leads to an exception when teams may have hidden financial or managerial relationships that can affect the results of matches. From now on, clubs will need to disclose information about common investors, overlapping management, joint ownership of companies, and any other forms of cooperation that could cast doubt on the integrity of tournaments.

The information is transmitted through a special form developed by Valve. Violations of these rules, including intentional concealment of connections, are severely punished with disqualification and forfeiture of prize funds. In this way, the company strengthens its policy of transparency and sports ethics in the professional scene.

Previously, cases of conflicts of interest have already been observed in such well-known organizations as Complexity Gaming, FaZe Clan, as well as between the BLAST tournament operator and Astralis. The new system is designed to put an end to such situations and restore trust in fair play.
