William “RUSH” Verzhba has officially announced to all news sites that he is leaving competitive play in CS2. The talented American esports player expressed that while he is stepping away from the professional scene, his passion for the shooter remains as strong as ever. He also mentioned how much he enjoys working with young, aspiring players, sharing his knowledge and experience with them. RUSH took to his personal page on X to share this significant decision, reflecting on his journey and the future ahead.
RUSH Announces End of CS Career: Reasons for Departure of Esports Legend
“I am officially announcing the end of my career in CS. I think this will not come as a surprise to many, because last year I already had long breaks from competitions. So mini-breaks were a chance to restore the lost inspiration. After the release of CS2, it really returned, but, unfortunately, over time, that same passion gradually faded.”
The player shared the reasons for his decision to put an end to his career:
- Many years ago, I made a promise to myself: if one of two things happens, I will leave the professional scene.
- My personal gaming skills will seriously decline.
“I will stop enjoying playing at the pro level. If at least one of these events happened, I would understand that it was time to leave. I never wanted to become that e-sportsman who gets contracts solely because of a big name or past achievements. It would be disrespectful to fans, organizations, and especially to my teammates.”
RUSH also wanted to speak out about how his career in the game went and what kind of games he likes:
“I still adore CS. My main motivation for the last few years has been working with young talents – mentoring them, helping them develop not only in the game, but also outside of it.
Right now, I don’t have any specific plans for the future. After 12 years on the pro scene, I’m finally allowing myself to enjoy a break. But I’m inspired by the idea of trying myself as a coach in CS2, and I’m sure I could succeed in this field. I’m also open to working at tournaments as an expert. Any interested organizations can safely write me a private message.”
RUSH began his professional career in 2012. During this time, he has played for such famous clubs as OpTic Gaming, Cloud9, and Evil Geniuses. He has won ELEAGUE Major 2018, DreamHack Open Denver 2017, and iBUYPOWER Masters 2017. He has earned over $640,000 in prize money during his career.
