It seems that even football stars are not immune from failures in the market of game skins. There have been major changes in Counter-Strike 2, and it has hurt the pockets of the financially rich and average players. They have invested large sums in rare and expensive skins to give their characters and weapons a unique look. As can be seen from the graph, prices grew rapidly in July 2025, but in October the growth rate began to decline.

After the overnight update in Counter-Strike 2, there was a fleeting revolution in the skin market. Prices for many of the items that football players cherished so much have collapsed. Their collections, which used to cost a fortune, have now become significantly devalued. Some players lost thousands, maybe tens of thousands of dollars, and the Evelon streamer lost $370,000.

I wonder how they will react to this situation? Will they try to win back by buying up even more skins in the hope of future price increases? Or maybe they’ll decide to quit this risky business and switch to other entertainment?

In any case, this story shows that even the rich and famous have their financial failures and Neymar is not a temptation player. And that the market of game skins is not only an opportunity to make money, but also a risk of losing a lot of money. So before investing your hard money in virtual items, you should think carefully and evaluate all possible consequences.

CS2 Market Crash: Legends’ Skins Drop in Price by Thousands of Dollars

Legendary football players have become worth dollars due to the fall in the skin market in Counter-Strike 2. Their cool skins have drastically depreciated after the game update.

Brazilian Neymar got the most – his virtual knives fell in price by more than two grand. According to the trading platforms, his StatTrak knife dropped in price from 1800 to 800 bach. And they only give 600 bucks for a Tramp, although it used to cost much more.

Ukrainian winger Mikhailo Mudrik is also in the red: his Claw has fallen in price by almost 570 bucks. Now it costs 930 bucks, and before it cost 1,500.

Russian football players did not escape losses either. Fyodor Smolov’s Bloodweb butterfly knife can be bought for just 390 bucks, although until recently it was asked for 1300. And Zelimkhan Bakayev’s Wave stiletto (straight from the factory) has more than tripled in price – from 1,100 to 370 bucks.

All because of the update, which was released on the night of October 22-23, 2025. Players can now craft knives and gloves by giving away five mystery quality skins. Because of this, rare skins immediately dropped in price, and the CS2 market lost 1.8 billion dollars – from 6 to just over 4 billion.

By the way, Daniel Zeus Teslenko, a former pro player and streamer, has already written about this patch for Counter-Strike 2 on his Telegram channel.

And before that, YouTuber Evgeny Rise and streamer Vadim Evelone Kazakov talked about the updated contract system.
