Height alone does not explain why people climb this mountain; it’s what waits at the top that keeps drawing them back, and what waited there first is a dispute over which light deserves worship.
The Sun’s Faithful
The Solari hold the mountain’s dominant position, a sun-worshipping order that treats light and order as inseparable and treats the moon as something closer to heresy. Leona, the Radiant Dawn, embodies that order at its most literal, a warrior wrapped in solar light who holds a line rather than chasing glory. Pantheon, the Unbreakable Spear, carries a version of that same conviction into every fight he takes on, treating faith as something proven with a spear rather than argued about.
What the Sun Tried to Erase
The Lunari were never fully removed, whatever the Solari intended. Diana, called the Scorn of the Moon, was cast out by that same order for finding a truth it preferred buried, and now carries lunar power directly into the mountain she was exiled from. Aphelios, the Weapon of the Faithful, serves that same hidden devotion in near total silence, letting his sister speak for a faith he can no longer voice himself.
Above both factions, the mountain still answers to older, stranger things. Aurelion Sol, the Star Forger, once shaped stars before something clipped his ambition down to the mountain’s size, a cosmic power its human factions barely register. Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight, and Soraka, the Starchild, both carry pieces of that same cosmic order into gentler, more direct forms — one treating the mountain’s power as a game, the other giving hers away for people who will never fully understand what she gave up. Taric, the Shield of Valoran, answers to none of the mountain’s factions directly, only to the idea of protection itself, wherever it happens to be needed. Each of them carries the mountain’s power differently: as light, as vengeance, as forge-fire, as a game, as a debt repaid, or simply as an oath kept long after anyone was left to enforce it. What they share is that none of them treat the peak as scenery — for every one of them, the climb is the point, not the view from the top.
