Riot Games has pleased League of Legends fans with a loud announcement: an alternative control scheme with WASD keys will soon be added to the game. This innovative method will not replace the usual mouse clicks, but will become an additional option for players who are thirsty for fresh sensations and greater control over the champion.

First of all, the new system will be available on the public test server (PBE). There, gamers will be able to personally try out the controls, share their impressions and suggest their ideas for improvement. After testing is complete, WASD will gradually be introduced into regular queues, and later into ranked matches. Riot has already emphasized that it carefully monitors the balance so that the innovation does not give an unfair advantage and maintains fair competition.

But that’s not all. Together with WASD, the developers are presenting an improved camera lock – the so-called dynamic lock. This technology keeps the camera locked on the champion, but at the same time “expands” the field of view towards the cursor, revealing more information about what is happening to the player. This is a major upgrade in situational awareness, which will allow you to react faster to concerns and plan more accurately in the heat of battle. All of these changes are part of Riot’s strategy to constantly improve the gaming experience and adapt League of Legends to the needs of a growing and increasingly demanding community.

League of Legends Update: New Control Settings, WASD, and Gameplay Improvements

League of Legends players will now have even more freedom in customizing their controls. The developers have added advanced key reassignment options, including the option to assign actions to the left mouse button — and all this through a convenient, clear interface. Previously, such changes required digging into system files, which took time and required technical dexterity. Now everything can be done in a couple of clicks.

But Riot Games is not stopping there. Important gameplay changes are being made to the game: the maximum level of the battle pass is reduced from 50 to 48. This decision is designed to make progress smoother and more dynamic, allowing you to quickly achieve goals and receive the desired rewards. And for connoisseurs of cosmetics, there is good news: the iconic emotes and icons familiar from Teamfight Tactics are returning to the store, which will certainly please veterans and return them to the atmosphere of the first seasons.

The updated Dynamic Fixed Camera mode in League of Legends has become a real gift for players who value comfort and control. Now the camera automatically orients itself in the direction of the champion’s movement, creating a feeling of smoother and more natural gameplay. This is especially useful in dynamic battles, where every split second decides the outcome of the battle. In addition, the developers have added indicators of the last hit on minions – an indispensable tool for beginners who are just mastering the mechanics of last hit. Hints make it easier to guess the moment of the hit in order to effectively farm gold in unranked matches without being distracted by unnecessary details.

We have been devoted to the League for many years, so we approached this project with special trepidation and respect for the classic mechanics of the MOBA genre – they were the ones that once made us fall in love with the game. Now the idea of ​​control using the WASD keys can give both beginners and veterans the opportunity to look at familiar battles from a new angle, without destroying the atmosphere and signature game rhythm.

Riot Games has not yet named the exact date for the implementation of this option, but confirmed that testing will start soon. The community is actively discussing the version that direct control from the keyboard may be a step towards the upcoming release of the legendary online MOBA on consoles, which will open the way for the League to a completely new audience of players.

Another pleasant innovation will be the built-in timers for the appearance of camps in the forest. They will help you better plan your actions in the match, and the updated death screen will make the process of watching the game at the moment of respawn more informative. Plus, in non-ranked modes, a special indicator for finishing off minions will appear – a useful detail for those who want to hone their skills without the pressure of ranked games. According to the developers, all these changes are aimed at lowering the entry threshold for newcomers, while maintaining the depth and strategic complexity that veterans appreciate.
