In NTE (Neverness to Everness), Hunter Level is your main account stat, tied to your Appraiser rank. This, in turn, determines what world you’ll encounter and how much loot you’ll salvage from anomalous zones. Serious leveling only begins after level 30, so newbies rush there at the first opportunity. The good news: it’s not too difficult if you know where to aim. Here’s a complete list of experience sources.

Experience from story and side quests in NTE
Main missions and side quests are the biggest and fastest way to gain Hunter XP. The range is generous: from 100 points for a small task to 2000 for long, intimate quests. At the start of the game, this is your everything. Level up everything, and you’ll easily reach level 20+.

Daily Quests and the Exploration Guide

There are several hidden paths to experience. The most rewarding are the daily quests. They’re simple, quick, and provide a nice boost at the start of each game day. Some tasks are easy to overlook in the daily grind—for example, “upgrade the Arch once” or “send a gift.” Keep an eye out.
The Exploration Guide is also full of small mini-quests, each worth 100 Hunter XP. They’re all broken down into stages. Complete all the tasks in a stage and receive bonus rewards, moving on to the next block with new tasks. This is a cycle that rewards you with tons of experience and other goodies. Very profitable.

Growing XP through Gifts from 21 in Hetero

Scattered throughout Hetero are mini-battles called “Gifts from 21.” They’re easily identified on the map and minimap by their small cube icon. The idea is simple: you stumble upon one, clear out the local enemies, and collect the reward from the chest. Each such trophy grants +10 Hunter XP. Individually, they’re mere peanuts, I agree. But there are a lot of “Gifts” in the city, and collecting them all adds up to quite a decent amount.
Exchanging Character Pixels for Hunter Level Experience
Character Pixels are a useful tool in NTE. They can be used to obtain consoles and cartridges, gain experience and materials for character ascension, level up Esper abilities, and even upgrade Arcs. How does it work? You complete anomalous zones, defeat world bosses, and for each such activity, in addition to the main reward, you gain Hunter Level Experience. A nice bonus.

If you spend all your Character Pixels before logging out, you can earn up to 1200 Hunter Level Experience per day. Not bad, huh? By the way, all the anomalous zones requiring these pixels can be found in the third tab of the Exploration Guide—everything is clearly laid out there.
City Tycoon Rank as a Source of Experience in NTE

Each new City Tycoon level grants 300 to 500 Hunter Level Experience—the amount depends on your current level. Early in the game, the first Tycoon ranks are easy and quick to attain, making them a very effective source of experience for newcomers. Apparently, the developers deliberately designed this to keep you from getting bored early on.
How to Level Up Fast in Neverness to Everness: Leveling Guide 1–50. Progression in NTE isn’t just about grinding for the sake of grinding, but also about carefully managing the cap. The entire path to the cap is tied to the Appraisal Level, which acts as a brake for overly eager players. Esper level caps, access to story arcs, and Ascension quests are tied to these numbers. If you don’t keep an eye on your Hunter Level, you’ll simply hit a ceiling and stop earning experience for nothing.
Hunter Level Milestones and Appraisal Level Ranks in NTE

Unlike many action RPGs, leveling here is spur-of-the-moment. The game regularly sets Hunter level requirements before allowing you to progress further in the story. The most important ones occur at 20, 40, and 50—these are the points of no return. Until you complete a special Ascension quest, your Assessor rank will remain fixed, and any excess experience will go to waste.
Leveling 1-20 and the first Ascension Quest
Initially, the storyline is your best friend. One episode rewards up to 2000 Hunter XP, and blue side quest markers consistently yield 1000-1500 XP. Don’t forget about Fons and Annulith—resources are never too much. Spending stamina (Character Pixels) until rank 20 is only worthwhile in Houdini’s Magic Stage. Hunter’s Guides and the coveted Beetle Coins drop there, without which character development will quickly stall. Forget about artifacts for now—there’s no point in grinding for blue coins. Explore the city. Each activated ReroRero booth or Wertheimer tower not only provides a quick teleport but also an instant experience bonus. Progress is locked at level 20. Go to the tutorial menu immediately and take the Ascension quest, otherwise the storyline will remain locked.

How to reach levels 20-30 and unlock console farming
Be prepared for a slower pace. The storyline will start requiring you to reach level 18, 24, or even 28, and there won’t be enough quests. Once the main missions are complete, switch to your daily routine. The “Exploration Guide” is a solid 1,500 XP per day that can’t be ignored. Look for “Gifts from 21” on the map and don’t forget about your “City Tycoon” status. Bring all the Oracle Stones you find to the Witch’s House—this also gives a nice amount of XP. We’re still draining stamina in Houdini’s Magic Stage. Pursuing artifacts before level 30 is a dubious idea, as their stats will be garbage. By this point, you should have one over-leveled DPS and a support capable of surviving on the battlefield. After level 30, the fun begins—farming cartridges and consoles.
Leveling 30-50 and access to the Anomaly Zone
After level 30, priorities change. Character Pixels now go to Anomaly Commissions. Use the Enemy Shadow Elimination system to track down the right mobs and collect ascension materials precisely, rather than relying on random chance. At level 40, you’ll face another rank test. Incidentally, a useful feature appears here: the ability to temporarily lower your appraiser rank. This can be helpful if you’ve leveled up too quickly and your Espers aren’t up to par with stronger enemies. Your final goal is Hunter Level 50. Only here will you gain access to the highest difficulty of anomalous zones, where the best cartridges for final builds drop.
