Fishing in Neverness to Everness (NTE) isn’t just a relaxing day by the water; it’s a full-fledged currency and leveling-up grind. There are three reasons why you shouldn’t miss out.
-
Direct gems for the Handbook. Catch a new species and get a coin. It’s all very straightforward. The Handbook itself will always tell you where exactly the desired fish can be found.
-
Anolyte and Fons. For a certain number of tails—say, 50 or 64—the game rewards you with an Anolyte. Plus, it’s a legal way to burn through your city’s energy more efficiently. Who doesn’t love double the rewards?
-
Mastery levels. The more challenging the catch, the faster your rank increases. Epic and legendary fish are a true express ticket to the top. A common roach won’t give you the same boost.

Best Fishing Rods for Catching Legendary Fish in NTE
The green rod (basic) is for beginners and small fish. Its line can easily break on a big fish. Blue (level 4)—that’s a good option. With it, you do not have to twitch every time, afraid of breaking. Authoritative advice: get the blue one right away; it turns hunting for legendaries from torture into pleasure.

Bait is no less important. Shrimp, for example, significantly increase your chances of catching mahi-mahi. How can you tell a rare fish from an epic? Look at the stamina stat: 6 is rare, 9 is epic, 12 is legendary. The higher the stat, the more you will have to work hard.
Fishing Technique Secrets: How to Maintain the Green Zone
The main rule of fishing is to keep the slider in the green zone. It seems easy, but in practice, when the fish twitches, it’s quite a challenge. By the way, the process feels much more responsive on a gamepad—the keyboard is noticeably inferior. I have tested it myself.

Those who want to fish effectively, find unique specimens, and regularly receive rewards should take care of good gear in advance. And do not forget the guide—it really helps.
Where to Buy Bait in NTE: Step-by-Step Instructions?
The most direct route is to the fishing shop. Launch the “Fishing” minigame, click the shop icon at the bottom of the screen—a menu will appear on the left. From there, select any unlocked bait. Alternatively, click the worm icon, then the desired bait you do not yet have. A “Buy” button will appear—it takes you there too. Pretty convenient, in short.

Tips for Finding Fishing Spots and Legendary Trophies
Study the map. All spots are marked, and clicking on any will show you what fish are found there. Keep an eye on the time of day: some species’ activity changes depending on day or night. Legendary trophies are also important. They drop rarely, like in Stardew Valley, but provide a powerful boost to experience and resources. Patience pays off.
