In Neverness to Everness, there’s more to it than just fighting and exploring the city. There are also dates, relationships, and gifts—classic mechanics for those who want to delve into a character’s soul. Each character has their own tastes: some are crazy about flowers, others about rare books. And if you choose the right gift, your bond rank will skyrocket faster than you can blink.

By the way, the system rewards more than just gifts. Taking walks together, driving around the city, and simply spending time together also raise your bond rank. But the fastest way, of course, is to give something you truly like. And there are a couple of tricks here.

Best Gifts in Neverness to Everness: Price and Profit Guide

Before you rush to the store and buy up all the gold, check the bond menu. There, in the “Gifts” tab, you’ll see a full list of your character’s preferences. And here’s what’s important: blue and green items sometimes give as many points as expensive purple and gold ones. So don’t rush to spend your backgrounds—check out the best deals first.

NTE gift shop guide

Below is a table of the best gifts based on price and effectiveness. Data is current as of May 2026.

Character Gift Guide

Character Item (Price in Phon) Where to Buy
Mint Waltz (3000) Flower Shop
Skia Chill (4000) Bookstore
Adler Golden Dawn (3600) Flower Shop
Daffodil Promise (10000) Gift Shop
Nanally Burning Crimson (5400) Flower Shop
Sakiri Fever Dream (5000) Gift Shop
Edgar Boss’s Approval (4000) Bookstore
Jiuyuan Moon Vase (3000) Flower Shop
Haniel / Auriel / Cheese Fantasy (3000) Flower Shop
Fadia Glimmering Ice (5400) Flower Shop
Hathor Fever Dream (5000) Gift Shop
Baitsang Radiant Accord (4500) Flower Shop

Please note: almost all heroes have a few favorite items. The ones listed above are simply the most profitable. If you get another gift from their list, it’s still fine, but the effectiveness will be slightly lower.

Total Cost and Time to Reach Maximum Affection

Farming affection to the maximum isn’t a quick task. Be prepared to spend between 800,000 and 1.5 million backgrounds on a single character. But there’s a catch: the daily gift limit is only 54,000 backgrounds per day. Even if you give perfect gifts, it will take about a month and a half to reach the maximum rank. This makes sense: the developers don’t want you to play through the entire romance in one evening.

But the reward is worth it. A high affection level unlocks additional story episodes, unique character quests, and allows you to learn their true past. You also get new cooperative activities. So save up backgrounds, choose the right gifts, and go forth and conquer hearts.

Where to Find Universal Gifts and Free Bond Points

By the way, Bond isn’t only raised through gifts. In Neverness to Everness, you can simply stroll the streets of Hetero with your characters, ride in a car, visit special date spots, and snap memorable photos. And once you buy your own home, invite guests to your home. There, they appear in their everyday outfits, which also adds points.

Hetero date activities

But if you’re too lazy to bother with individual gifts for each character, there are universal options. Here are three that work:

  • A handwritten letter immediately grants 2,000 Affection points. Everyone loves it. There’s just one problem: letters aren’t just lying around. They’re awarded at the Warp Terminal through exchange or in the Battle Pass.
  • Fluffy Cotton Wool is more modest, worth only 400 points. But you can get it for free. Look for the “Compressed Fluffy Cloud” anomaly in your home. Where exactly? In the Wiener Apartments, the Eden Apartments, or the Fenglin Villa. You poke and you get.
  • The Ebisu Royal Tower—this one has a more interesting story. Remember the Ebisu Auction in the story, when you were asked to find Illika, Haniel, and Hathor? A drunken Hotori told you to take all the food from the tables. Do as the boss said. The result: about 40 servings of “Royal Tower.” Each one gives 100 bond points. Yeah, it’s not enough. Yeah, not all characters agree to eat it. But it’s free—so why not grab it?

An important limitation: you can only give gifts to one character three times a day. The total is no more than ten gifts, distributed among four different characters. So, a strategy is required.

Common Beginner Mistakes in NTE Relationship Progression

At the start, many manage to waste 200,000–300,000 backgrounds down the drain—and then genuinely can’t understand why their relationship progress is stuck. Relationship progression in NTE is unforgiving. The limits are draconian, farming is finite, and the developers haven’t included a “cancel” button. Let’s figure out where your affection is going and why you’re stumbling out of nowhere.

Gift Blacklist: What You Should Never Waste Early On

“Handwritten Letters” are an absolute scarcity, and inexperienced players burn through them within the first week. Obtaining them is physically difficult: crumbs drop from the Battle Pass, and Warp Terminals or event rewards are rare. One such letter grants 2,000 Affinity points to any hero (regardless of taste). Feeding them to Mint for some flower is, pardon me, a diagnosis. Save these letters for companions who don’t have affordable purple equivalents in the shop. Or save them until you reach rank 5–6—the bar there requires a colossal investment.

Another critical loss is “Fluffy Cotton.” The “Compressed Fluffy Cloud” anomaly doesn’t respawn every day (you’ll scrape together 20–25 pieces in a month, at most). Draining this supply on Skia, who is already happily enjoying books for 4,000 credits, is extremely unprofitable. Cotton wool is only needed by niche players whose favorite items break the 5,000 credit ceiling.

Purple items from the gift and flower stalls (Radiant Accord, Shimmering Ice, Feverish Dream) are a particular pain. At first, the 5,000 credits price tag seems quite reasonable. This is an illusion. Until you progress through the story and unlock lucrative sources of income (Hetero events and Warp Terminal contracts), such purchases will mercilessly eat into the budget set aside for weapons and level-ups. Until account level 15, stick strictly to the blue and green tiers—you’ll earn slightly fewer points, but you’ll save a fortune.

Leveling Mistakes & Tips

Mistake What You Lose How to Avoid
Gifts for unknown favorites 60–70% of points wasted Open the “Gifts” tab in the Bond menu before buying
Ignoring the 54k daily limit Up to 18k points per day Give exactly three times to each of the four heroes
Wasting letters on low-tier heroes 1500+ points per letter Save for Rank 5→6 and higher
Skipping dates and photos 200–400 points daily Once a day — take a walk or a souvenir photo
Leveling 6+ heroes simultaneously Delays maxing out by 3+ months Focus on 2–3 characters at a time
Skipping Ebisu Royal Tower 4000 free points Collect all 40 portions after the auction

Bond System Limits and Choosing Your Primary Favorites

A typical scenario: a newbie goes to the communication tab, sees 14 icons, and generously distributes gifts to the entire roster. The outcome is predictable: after a couple of weeks, the entire group has reached a measly rank 2, personal arcs are blocked, and their balance is zero. Completing one companion will cost one and a half million points. And this is dry math, not advice from forums. If you’re trying to pull off more than three favorites at once, you’ll spread your progress thinly and end up without endings.

NTE affection progression system

The optimal setup looks like this: Choose one main (for the story). Take a backup hero (to drain dailies for 54k points when the first one hits the limit). And keep the third hero for universal loot like cotton wool and items like the King’s Tower. Put everyone else in deep freeze until you complete that top 3.

How to Boost NTE Affection for Free via Activities

And finally, free-to-play options, which many people overlook. Walking together nets 150-300 points per session. Taking memorable photos nets another 100-200, and interacting in your own home generates a steady 250. Spend five minutes, and don’t pay a dime for backgrounds. Those who are used to resolving everything solely by donating gifts lose around 800 affection points daily—the exact amount earned by a single expensive purple gift. Over the course of a month, this free routine boosts an entire rank and more.
