PUBG Mobile is once again making a serious bet on success. Version 4.4, subtitled Hero’s Crown, will officially roll out on May 12, 2026 – Android will receive the update in the morning, iOS a little later. The patch size is over 900 MB, so download in advance. Ancient Greek mythology, a floating island with a boss, a redesigned Erangel and new mechanics in World of Wonder – the update turned out to be truly bold.

What’s changed in World of Wonder: monitoring friends and a new lobby
WOW mode is finally no longer an isolated experience. Now, right in the match, you can follow your friends or jump in with them – if there is a free slot. No waiting for the end of the round, no new rooms. Just log in and you’re already in the game.
At the same time, we improved customization: we added fresh resources (including a football series), a separate lobby for the mode, and improved tools for joint creativity. Therefore, Krafton wants to turn WOW into a full-fledged social platform within the game – and the steps in this direction are very tangible.
Mythical Erangel: Glory Points, challenges and a floating island with a boss
This is where update 4.4 brings out the real intensity of emotions. Key Erangel locations – Ruins, Ferry Pier, Mylta, Yasnaya Polyana – have turned into ancient ruins with marble columns, temples and Greco-Roman architecture. Visually, it’s as if the map has moved to another era.
The gameplay is all tied to Glory Points – points common to the squad. You earn money for kills, assists, revives, and completing challenges. Scored 50+ points and entered the top 4? The team receives an invitation to Crown’s Abode, a floating island where the final boss fight with Helios or Centaur awaits. You need to collect coals, activate the Chariot of the Sun and kill the boss. The winners take top rewards and the Helios companion – an AI teammate who shoots, heals, revives and highlights enemies. Not a bad bonus for survival.

Temporary forces also appeared – three of them. Heart of Fury gives acceleration and reduces incoming damage, Wax Wings allow you to fly and glide, Battle Flag creates a command zone with buffs. This radically pushes the style of play towards aggressive interaction – passive sitting back is no longer an option.
Weapons and skins in update 4.4: forge, roulettes and the return of classics
The mythical forge has updated its assortment. In Golden Roulettes you can now upgrade the M1 Garand and M16A4 – the guns are not the most obvious for this format, but they look fresh. The AUG returns with an updated swipe effect (“Roar of the Abyss”) and the AKM. Thematic cases will include AWM, and Groza, Scar-L and DBS “Cosmobeast” are also back in rotation.
Separately, there are new collections of cards, leveling up the skin on JS9 (presumably up to 5 levels by the end of the year for complete collections), golden update costumes and two new Gilt sets: Spartan Conqueror and one more. Plus the return of old rare skins with redesigned effects. The selection is solid – cosmetics hunters will not be bored.
Ford, Harley-Davidson and Panzerfaust: transport and weapon changes
The collaboration schedule has been shuffled a bit. Harley-Davidson motorcycles – May 13, Ford roulette – May 15. The new Roadster is expected to be a fast two-seat convertible that, judging by the description, will be one of the nimblest vehicles on the cards. Panzerfaust is now more widely available – it has been added to several maps at once, rather than being kept in one place.
Technical improvements: 120 FPS, Flash Crew and redesigned lobby
Support for 120 FPS is expanding – now more devices are supported by it, the benchmark is based on the performance of the chipset. The social lobby has been redesigned and Flash Crew has been added, a system for smart selection of teammates. Downloading resources has also been sped up. And a small bonus: the Bonus Pass received a changing skin already for the 1st level – which is typical, this has never happened before.
Important before installing PUBG Mobile 4.4
It’s worth clarifying something critical here. After installing 4.4, you will not be able to start matches with those who still have version 4.3 – compatibility breaks. Rolling back to an older version is not possible. Installation risks are on the player’s side. The patch weighs 900+ MB, so it’s better to update via Wi-Fi in advance, and not 10 minutes before playing with friends.
Update 4.4 Hero’s Crown looks like one of the most action-packed events in recent seasons – a mythological Erangel, a boss on a floating island, an AI companion and flying on the wings of Icarus all in one patch. We’ll check it out in practice on May 12th.
