The Nova Series has appeared in League of Legends, an esports league for women and people whose gender identity differs from the generally accepted one.

LoL launches the French Nova Series tournament, designed specifically for girls and other marginalized genders.

The first tournament, Nova Series: Prélude, will be held from November 8th to December 6th. The main prize is 10,000 euros.

The October 22 announcement said, “We’ve always been here. On the Rift. In every game. Sometimes they didn’t hear us, but we didn’t give up.” And more: “We know what it’s like to lose, but we want to win. We supported our teams and shone in the shadows. Our time has come. Our story begins.”

Utanovka Nova Series is a continuation of the progress in League of Legends Game Changers (LGC). This platform, like the one already in VALORANT, appeared in LoL. Rumors about it have been circulating since January, and in June Riot Games announced the launch of the league in the EMEA region. The first stage, LGC 2025 Rising, will end on October 31 with the final between Eterna and G2 HEL.

How the Nova Series works: schedule and format

The first Nova Series: Prélude tournament starts with two qualifying stages on November 8-9 and 15-16.

In each qualification, 32 European teams will compete for entry into the main tournament. First, there will be a seven-round Swiss stage, where all matches go to one win (BO1).

The top four teams from the Swiss stage will enter the playoffs with difficulties and emotional worries. There, two tickets to the finals will be played for each qualification, and all matches will be in the format of up to two wins (BO3).

The main stage of the tournament will begin on November 23. The four qualified teams will meet in single sets. The semi-finals will also be in the BO3 format to determine the two finalists.

On December 6, in Paris, we will find out the first Nova Series champion – he will be determined in the grand final, which will take place before three wins (BO5). Anyone who wants to participate is advised to look at the information on the official website of the tournament.

Riot Games has previously supported women and minorities in esports of the fairer sex. For example, there is a Game Changers program in Valorant, where splits and even the World Cup are regularly held.
