Publisher 3D Realms and developer Atmos Games have announced the release date for Twisted Tower, a first-person adventure shooter described as a blend of BioShock and the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is set to launch on August 18, 2026, exclusively for PC via Steam. Development is led by Thomas Brush, the creator of Pinstripe and Neversong. According to Brush, the project has been in the works for about five years and stands as one of the most ambitious games of his career. Below is everything known so far—from gameplay mechanics to system requirements and Russian language support.

What the Twisted Tower trailer reveals?

Alongside the release date announcement, Brush unveiled a new trailer. It showcases a gloomy, 1950s-style resort complex where a whimsical aesthetic gradually descends into a nightmare. The footage shows the protagonist fighting their way through an abandoned theme park populated by deranged mascots who ostensibly just want a hug. In reality, however, their aggression far exceeds expectations—and players will need to be ready for it.

Atmosphere is Twisted Tower’s greatest strength. The developers designed the levels with BioShock and Disneyland in mind. Visually, it offers a mix of horror and wonder: the park’s bright lights, abandoned attractions, and shadows lurking around every corner. While the trailer doesn’t aim to spoil the plot, it clearly demonstrates that players can expect more than just a shootout; a sprawling world filled with secrets and traps awaits.

Gameplay, weapons, and the tower’s five levels

Twisted Tower combines fast-paced combat, puzzles, and exploration. The game takes place in an abandoned 1950s amusement park, where you must ascend the floors of a mysterious tower to save the love of your life, Charlotte. There are five unique locations in total: a hotel, a water park, a clown-themed casino, a carnival forest, and a space station. Each offers its own distinct pace and set of challenges.

Twisted Tower gameplay

The standout feature is the arsenal of toy weapons. It includes:

  • a Whac-A-Mole mallet,
  • a rubber-band gun,
  • a dart-firing Tommy gun,
  • a “farting” shotgun,
  • a bubblegum machine gun,
  • a sniper slingshot,
  • a skull-smashing ray gun.

Weapons can be upgraded, and by collecting unusual toys, the hero gains new abilities: jumping, dashing, and grappling. A new addition is the inclusion of dozens of alternative paths; every run can differ from the last, ensuring variety and boosting replayability.

Will Twisted Tower support Russian?

Officially: no. The game’s Steam page states: “Russian language not supported.” Subtitles, the interface, and voice acting do not include Russian. At the moment, this is the only aspect that might disappoint Russian-speaking players. There is currently no official confirmation regarding the addition of a translation post-release.

Component Requirement
OS Windows 7 or newer
Processor 2.4 GHz, dual-core
Memory 2 GB RAM
Graphics Card GeForce 9800GT or equivalent
DirectX Version 9.0
Storage 2 GB available space

Recommended requirements have not yet been announced. The game is not hardware-intensive; a basic PC is all that is required. However, keep in mind that as of January 1, 2024, Steam supports only Windows 10 and newer versions.

Twisted Tower launches on Steam on August 18. Pricing and special editions have not yet been revealed—stay tuned for updates. To ensure you don’t miss the release, add the game to your Steam wishlist. In the meantime, you can try out the demo, which is already available and has received very positive reviews (90% of 954 reviews).
