The debut project, That’s No Moon, was finally revealed at Summer Game Fest 2026. The studio, comprised of veterans of Uncharted and God of War, has been quietly developing the tactical shooter Crossfire for five years—and the first footage looks like a serious bid to reimagine the genre. The developers have combined deep cinematic quality with fairly hardcore gameplay systems.

Adaptive Cover Powered by Unreal Engine 5

Forget classic waist-high concrete blocks. In Crossfire, such artificial arenas simply don’t exist; the developers rely entirely on natural, distorted terrain. This beauty is powered by Unreal Engine 5. The main character, Layla Kassem, has a clever positioning system: an invisible buffer zone around the character automatically reads the level’s geometry. The engine automatically understands when to hug a cliff, crawl over a difficult section, or carefully lean out for a shot. The player must tightly control the enemy’s line of sight (which greatly increases tension), skillfully mixing stealth and open firefights.

The Price of Mistake: Hardcore and Tactical

Judging by the gameplay shown, you’ll die often here. Although Layla is equipped with protective armor and a helmet, she won’t be able to tank damage no matter how hard she tries. Open combat without a clear plan immediately ends with a defeat screen. Survival is built on carefully calibrated dashes between cover and tight tactical co-op with a partner. Delroy Cross is controlled by artificial intelligence, requiring constant interaction. For fans of thoughtful projects that don’t tolerate mindless rushing, the combat here risks becoming a new benchmark.

Cinema and the purchase of House of Moves

It won’t be limited to gunplay. That’s No Moon is clearly aiming for the big leagues in storytelling. To squeeze maximum authenticity out of the relationship between Lyla and Cross, the studio even purchased a professional mocap facility, House of Moves, and brought in real camera operators. And while the creators are keeping the announced sci-fi elements of the plot under wraps for now, their obsessive focus on realism promises to produce one of the most intriguing releases of the coming years.
