Japanese publisher Capcom appears to have decided to revive one of its most popular franchises from the original PlayStation era. According to insider information, a full-fledged remake of the cult 1999 survival horror Dino Crisis is in development. While Resident Evil has been receiving remastered versions one after another, fans of Shinji Mikami’s classic have been starving for years, but a recent leak changes the balance of power.
When will Capcom’s Dino Crisis remake be released?
Insider group Team Biohazard shared this information. According to them, Capcom began production on the updated Dino Crisis back in 2022. However, it’s too early to celebrate—the project has been stalled in early pre-production for too long, so a quick release is definitely not worth expecting.
What is currently known about the release dates and platforms:
-
Announcement date: The first official details and trailers won’t be released until 2028 or 2029. Apparently, the publisher is in no rush.
-
Release: The horror game is expected to hit store shelves around the turn of the decade.
-
Platforms: The game is being developed as a multi-platform project. It’s logical to assume that, in addition to PC, the title will skip the current generation of consoles and aim directly for the next-gen consoles—PS6 and Project Helix.
For Capcom, this is a long-term bet. The desire to bring dinosaurs back into the fold seems logical given the general lack of fresh ideas in the genre, but fans of the original will have to be patient.
