A demo of the fan mod for Half-Life has appeared on Steam.
Dark Vector Studio showed Half-Life: Element 64, a major modification of the original “Half”, designed in the style of old—school shooters of the 90s. The demo version can already be downloaded on Steam.
The Element 64 relies on rigidity and arcade-like performance, as it was in the era of kinescope monitors and three-inch floppy disks. The plot is classic: another scientific experiment goes awry, aliens break into the base, the staff turns into infected biomass, followed by military mercenaries. The task is to get out alive through the well—known corridors of the scientific complex.
-
The mod is divided into four chapters, each with its own enemies and bosses.:
-
Quantum Entanglement — offices, medical units and laboratories filled with infected;
-
Out of Service — gloomy technical tunnels and warehouses where aliens have settled;
-
Further Transmission — going outside and skirmishing with HECU fighters and Black Ops saboteurs;
-
Temporal Matter — secret labs, tricky traps and the cruelest ending.
The authors focused on nostalgia: branched levels, hidden rooms, familiar weapons from the original. There is no exact release date for Element 64. The mod will be free, but you will need a purchased Half-Life. The page and demo are already waiting on Steam.
