In 2020, Riot Games unveiled the updated Eternals system for League of Legends, marking a significant step forward in the game’s development. A key innovation was improved emotes and capsules, which further enriched the reward system for in-game achievements. According to the developers, the introduction of Eternals had three main goals: to increase player engagement with their favorite champions, create a progression system focused on each champion’s abilities, and provide an opportunity to showcase their achievements to both friends and rivals. This system allows players to track their characters’ progress and demonstrate their skill level to other players.

Champion stats in LoL now include a hero achievement tracking system that activates immediately after purchase. Riot Games has combined Eternals into character sets, creating new sets available from level 1.

What are Eternals in LoL?
Eternals in LoL are important collectibles based on the appearances and traits of popular gods and heroes of Runeterra.
Each type of Eternal is uniquely aligned with a specific character class and playstyle in LoL:
-
Empress – Warrior – talent in combat.
-
Mentor – Slayer – a path to victory.
-
Defender – Mage – defensive strength and support for allies.
-
Agility – Manipulator – agility and deception of the enemy.
-
Overseer – Marksman – complete enemy control.
-
Warrior – Tank – strength and ruthlessness.

Types of Eternals in LoL
Each hero, regardless of class, can use different types of Eternals:
-
Normal Eternals carefully consider achievements such as kills, damage, or the destruction of epic monsters.
-
Special Premium Eternal actions are traced to such talented abilities. For example, Akshan will track the number of allies resurrected with the “Dangerous Game” ability.
-
All statistic counters in LoL are grouped into three distinct groups based on the type of content they contain.
However, some game modes do not support the use of Eternals or the calculation of stats. To check whether Eternals are supported in the current match, go to the pre-battle menu and check the “Scoring” section. If the Eternals icon is displayed, your stats will be updated based on the results of the match.
Players who don’t want to spend money on viewing stats can use their LoL profile information and third-party tracking sites.
How do I track my personal achievements?
To view the current season’s results, simply log in to your account and go to the “Match History” section. Clicking on a specific match will reveal detailed information about the game’s progress and the participants’ results.

Tracker sites such as tracker.gg, op.gg, and League of Graphs allow you to monitor the statistics of any user and search for players by their nicknames.

These trackers will replace all other information you could ever need:
-
Number of wins, damage, experience points, and gold;
-
Most frequently selected role;
-
Favorite heroes;
-
Player’s match list;
-
Team compositions, item builds, ranks, and player achievements.
If needed, you can also evaluate a user’s game statistics using a specific champion, as well as check their popularity and potential.
How many Eternals are there in the game?
During the Mastery system presentation, Riot Games developers announced their plans to introduce new features each season based on player preferences, as well as add emotes and bonus capsules to enhance the gameplay experience.
As of early 2025, there are three Eternals series in the game. The first series debuted in 2020, and the second was released in November 2022.
Series one includes three stats that are universal for all LoL champions:
-
Kills and Assists;
-
Epic Monsters Destroyed;
-
Structures Destroyed.

LoL Eternals List
Series one and two include unique Eternals designed for specific champions. Most characters in each series received one set of stat counters.

Buy Eternals at the LOL store
All League of Legends fans can purchase Eternals sets for their favorite champions through:
-
the “Progress” tab on the character page;
-
the “Eternals” section in the in-game store.
There are two currencies available for purchase:
-
RP (Riot Points) – an in-game currency, available exclusively for real money, used to purchase content in the Riot Store.
-
Blue Essence – an in-game currency earned through victories, leveling up, and completing missions.
Riot Games offers a universal set of three standard success trackers for purchase: for 225 RP yearly or for 2,500 Blue Essence twice a year in the Essence Emporium. Special sets from Series I and II are available for a much lower price of 600 RP.
The Essence Emporium is a temporary store that opens twice a year, at the beginning and mid-season. In 2023, the Temple was available from September 6th to 20th and from December 13th to 27th. For two weeks, players could purchase a variety of content at discounted prices using Blue Essence. The list of items on sale will be announced once the store opens.
The price of standard and premium stat counters will be 75 and 200 RP respectively. A set of two standard and one unique Eternal will cost 350 RP.
If a player prefers multiple champions, it’s more convenient to purchase success counters for specific champions. For those who play multiple characters, the Series Pass, which unlocks a set for all champions indefinitely, is a good choice.

If new stats are added in the future for existing or new characters, players will receive free access to content updates through a previously purchased pass.
Pass prices:
-
Starter Series – 14,750 Blue Essence or 1,350 RP;
-
First Series – 5,850 RP;
-
Series 2 – 6,400 RP.
Please note that purchasing packs or passes as gifts to friends is not possible.
Promotions and Discounts:
Riot Games frequently runs promotions offering significant discounts. For example, when Series 2 of Eternals was released in LoL, the price of the Standard and Tier 1 passes was reduced by 60% (to 540 and 2,340 RP) from November 18 to December 2, 2022.
The Series 2 pass also had a 30% discount promotion three months after its release. In 2022, the full set of unique stat counters cost 4,480 RP from February 17 to March 3.
Riot continues to evolve the Eternals system, adding new success counters and expanding the possibilities for earning content without additional investment.
Key Features:
-
Discounts on passes are a great way to save money.
-
The Series Pass is perfect for those who actively play multiple heroes.
-
The Essence Temple is a chance to purchase content at great discounts.
Where to view Eternal Champions
Champions with Eternals are displayed on the character page, in the “Progress” section. Here you can see both unlocked and locked counters, as well as achievements and records.
If a champion is updated, stats may be lost, and they will be marked as “Archived.” The system will offer new free content to replace the old data.
Another way to check stats is to look at the character card on the match loading screen or at the moment an opponent dies, if the player killed them.
If desired, the player can customize the display of the desired stats from any purchased pack.
How to unlock Milestones
Milestones are checkpoints that represent progress in game achievements. Each champion in LoL has their own Eternals with unique milestones. When a player reaches 5 milestones, this is called “Resurrecting an Eternal.”
Once a player unlocks 5 standard milestones, the system will begin recording their personal bests, adding them as new checkpoints.
If a player completes the required steps to unlock a milestone or sets a new personal best, other match participants will see a notification on the sidebar of the screen.
Notification settings allow you to choose which notifications to display—for both personal and team achievements—or disable them completely.
Disabling milestone notifications does not affect the display of Eternals on the match loading screen or on the opponent’s death screen.

Upgraded Emotes in League of Legends: What They Are and How to Get Them
A Mastery Emote in League of Legends is an animated effect with an accompanying sound that plays over a champion’s head for 3 seconds when a player activates the emote. Visually, it resembles a Mastery Badge, which changes depending on the hero’s rank.
To obtain an upgraded Mastery Emote, players must reach 5 milestones in one of the stats included in the Eternals set. If a player reaches all 15 milestones in any Eternals set, regardless of the series, the game adds a unique fire effect to the emote, making it even more impressive.
Emote upgrades can be made multiple times, and with each upgrade, they become more vibrant and memorable. The appearance of an activated Mastery Emote allows other players to gauge your skill level. The more impressive and complex the emote, the higher your opponent’s skill level.

How to get Eternals Capsules in League of Legends
Eternals Capsules are a special part of the game’s content that contains two random shards from Eternals sets and Orange Essence, which is used to activate the set. If a player is lucky enough to receive a shard from an already purchased set, it can be disenchanted to receive Orange Essence.
With capsules, players can unlock Eternals without spending real money. Capsules can be earned by completing various quests, participating in in-game events, or achieving high positions in the overall split leaderboard—the seasonal portion of the game that lasts approximately four months.

Summary
Eternals in League of Legends are a statistic system that reflects your champion’s in-game achievements. In-game, you can earn them either through purchase in the in-game store or by collecting capsules.
A special bonus for players who successfully complete all events within a single Eternals set are special effects that can be added to the Mastery Emote, creating a more visually vibrant experience.
