Let’s start the story from Treyarch studio after the beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, I fixed and tweaked some things there in multiplayer, listening to the players.

Call of Duty knows the ups and downs firsthand. Remember 2016, when it unexpectedly lost to Battlefield 1, or the scandalous Modern Warfare 3, which was criticized by everyone. But the franchise has always managed to pull through, fight back, and triumphantly regain its name.
Take last year’s Black Ops 6 — at the start, everyone said it was almost the best part of the series. Cool storyline, new things in multiplayer, like omnimovements… But it’s only been a couple of months, and the fans are disappointed. I got tired of the game terribly quickly, they didn’t deliver what they promised, and as a result, the players scattered like cockroaches.
Call of Duty’s problems were compounded by the new Battlefield, which was hitting the nail on the head. Activision had to take a desperate step: in Black Ops 7, they removed the matchmaking system, which had been plowing since the days of Modern Warfare 2019. But even that didn’t seem to help. It seems that people just got bored with Call of Duty.
What is Black Ops 7? I was stuck in beta in the evenings, pumped everything I could and played everything. And here’s what I can say: the game is still addictive, but damn, it’s kind of predictable.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7: How to play?
In short, in other countries and States, Steam sells it for some unrealistic money at all – from 70 to 90 bucks, depending on where. You can log into it on your computer and Xbox if you have a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscription. And on PlayStation, you can either take it to the PS Store in other countries (in India, for example, about 60 bucks comes out), or wait for discs.

Call of Duty is often put on a par with the “FIFO” from EA Sports. They say that the same thing comes out every year, and millions obediently carry the money, like it’s necessary. But if you think about it, it’s not the same at all. In Call of Duty, the story campaigns are always different, especially if you take different series. And the multiplayer is constantly changing, although the basis remains the same.
For example, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2022. There, the developers decided to make everything serious and realistic.: you can feel how hard it is for your soldier, how he strains when he climbs over something, how loudly he plops after jumping. But in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, everything is completely different – the game has become much faster. There, the fighters run like crazy, easily climb into shelters and knock down enemies with a couple of shots. The tempo is different, and the sensations are completely different.
Last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 generally added cool omnidrives. Now your hero can jump out from around the corner like Max Payne and punish the camper. Or coolly jump off the roof, shoot on the fly and make frags. Just one thing, but how it changed the game and how many new techniques appeared!
So, Black Ops 7 – what’s new? Well, the developers decided to add it… bounce off the walls. Yes, it’s a rebound, like in the good old action movies. Don’t expect grace and acrobatics like in Mirror’s Edge or Titanfall. It’s more like a powerful push to jump over some obstacle or climb higher. It seems cool, but where to apply it is already a question.
Imagine the picture, you were hanging near the window on the second floor, and then – bang! – they bounced right on the head of some sniper. Beauty! Or here, some kind of gorge – he ran, pushed off and flew over it, went to the rear of the enemy. But let’s be honest, most of the time you still run as usual, using your usual movements. And here there is a strange feeling, as if the cards were made without counting on this very bounce. It’s kind of there, but it’s like they forgot to sew it on. It was as if they were trying to cram in the wrong.
But there is something more interesting. A new mode called Overload. It sounds cool, but it plays even cooler! Imagine: two teams, and each must steal a valuable item from the other and bring it to their base. But you don’t have to drag them to your own place, but to the enemy’s. Two points for delivery, so you won’t be able to steal from one point. Such a reverse version of capturing the flag. The adrenaline is pumping, you have to run fast and think with your head. No ratting – just a tooth-crushing action!
Another good news is that the perk leveling system has been changed. Now, if you actively use some kind of perk, for example, camouflage camouflage, then you can upgrade it. You spend less energy disguising yourself, and you spend more time being invisible. It’s very cool and fits seamlessly into the rest of the game. It seems like a small thing, but it’s nice. In general, there is something interesting in Black Ops 7.
Of course, the new maps are not bad, but they lack something. Everything is as usual at Treyarch: three lines, nothing special. The battlefields, as always, are full of all sorts of detours, floors and other features. The bad thing is that they look kind of dull. Do you remember Mercado Las Almas from Modern Warfare 2? That’s where it was pleasing to the eye: it was bright, colorful, and the fruits flew apart so appetizingly during the explosions! In Black Ops 7, you only feel something similar on the Toshin oriental-style map.
But all these wall runs, new maps and other little things are not the same at all. Just add a few to make the game feel new. Unfortunately, it leaves the same feelings as Black Ops 6 last year. To be honest, it seems like this is just a major update for the sixth installment. Even the online game Modern Warfare 3 didn’t seem so uniform.
Everything goes as usual: you collect perks again to upgrade, for example, the Punisher – when each kill gives you a boost. Again, you upgrade the guns one by one, attaching the same silencers, sights and handles to them. Once again, you survive in the usual zombie mode, where the enemies get stronger with each level, and you try to improve your weapons, find armor and manage to fly away from the location. And again you see a picture that doesn’t want to get better because of the old consoles.
To be honest, the plot in Black Ops 7 is still unclear, and there’s not much new online with the zombie mod to run for the game at full price. But if you already have a Game Pass (which, by the way, has gone up in price), then it’s definitely worth downloading. Although the shootouts don’t shine with originality, the adrenaline is still pumping.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – to play or not to play?
In general, the plot is not clear yet, and there is not enough new in multiplayer and zombie mode to recommend taking Black Ops 7 for the full price. But if you already have a Game Pass subscription, then it’s definitely worth a try. The shootings may not be the most recent, but they still make your heart beat faster.
Who just didn’t try to move Call of Duty! Battlefield tried to overwhelm with scale, Destiny 2 with atmosphere, and Splitgate surprised with portals in general. But the “Kolda” remained on the throne. What’s the secret? In a steep balance, where it seems to be complete chaos, but you can also use tactics. In a cool-feeling shooting game that you can’t break away from. And in the same pumping system, which drags no worse than a swamp.
Black Ops 7 is the kind of game where you go in “for a couple of rounds” and end up playing until morning. At first, just because I discovered a new “feature” – I have to check it out! Later, because there are very few cool rewards up to level 30. And then you don’t even think about sleeping, you have to finish the game with a victory, not with defeat in your mouth.
After the beta multiplayer of the new Call of Duty, it became clear: don’t expect a masterpiece, but you can have a lot of fun. The main question now is the plot. Will she be able to surprise you like last time? How will they cram the promised cooperative? And will Raul Menendez’s comeback be cool? If the developers answer yes to all of this, Black Ops 7 could rank among the best games in the series.
Take the multiplayer itself in Black Ops 7, which is very familiar – probably the most similar Call of Duty in recent years. I would advise you to charge full price only to the biggest fans. For the rest, wait for discounts or promotions. But to be honest, Black Ops 7 is still the same Call of Duty, just a good one. In online modes, you can break away, shoot zombies and generally have a great time.
Yes, and then there was a rumor that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 could be released a week earlier. But Treyarch wrote that they would not change anything. The game will be released on November 14 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
