Why go to space at all?

Genshin lunar region

Update 6.7, released on July 1, 2026, opens access to the Lunar Region—one of the most unusual zones in the game’s history. Instead of the familiar natural landscapes of Teyvat, players will find futuristic platforms, dark structures, mysterious ruins, and views of Earth from the Moon. The atmosphere of the new location has been compared by many to science fiction, similar to Interstellar.

The space station exists above the Lunar Highlands. Access is only possible after completing the world quest chain related to Project Moongazer.

Step-by-step route to outer space

Step 1. Complete the quest “When We Look to the Moon.”

This is a mandatory requirement. The quest ends once you reach the Moon. Without it, the teleport to the station will not open.

Step 2. Teleport to the Space Life Capture Station

Space Life Capture Station

The teleport point is above the Lunar Highlands. Once there, head east through the closed door.

Along the way, be sure to collect:

  • Lost Flower of Antiquity – grants the “A Walk with Sweet Flowers” achievement.
  • A regular chest and a Lunoculus – don’t miss it.

Step 3. Reach the middle platform

Swim left over the Ancient Moon Pearl sphere to the Ancient Moon Pearl Power Station platform. Then move right and exit the station.

Step 4. Activate the Launcher

Ancient Moon Pearl Launcher

Go to the Ancient Moon Pearl Launcher and activate it to launch the Moon Pearl inside the space station.

Step 5. Return inside and activate the gravimeter

On your way back, grab the chest that appears, then interact with the gravimeter to activate it. Open the precious chest—it will appear immediately after activation.

There are three more chests waiting below the platform—go down and collect them.

Step 6. Go through the northern door

Return to the top, open the northern door, and proceed along the passage, avoiding the warning signs. Use the Shoarin Kuuhenki to quickly move—this will significantly speed up your progress.

Step 7. Stop at the Storm Blocking Fields

You’ll encounter Storm Blocking Fields along the way—they prevent your Archaeolum Storm Attrition (attrition) meter from filling.

Storm Blocking Fields

Important: the last field will flicker and won’t fully restore lost attrition. To fix this, fire an Archaeolum Ripple at the nearby Pioneer Source Structure and destroy it.

Step 8. Reach the Moongazer

Use the same method—using the Archaeolum Ripple—to reach the Moongazer. Once you get there, activate the teleport point—now you can travel to outer space at any time.

All Chests Along the Way: A Complete Checklist

Genshin Moon chests

Chest Location Rarity
1 Behind the locked door at the starting area Common
2 Appears after launching the pearl Common
3 After activating the Gravimeter Precious
4–6 Under the platform after activating the Gravimeter Three chests (different rarities)
7 Inside the “Moongazer” Ship Exquisite
8 Inside the “Moongazer” Ship Exquisite
9 Inside the “Moongazer” Ship Precious

In the Moongazer, you can also interact with the glowing sphere inside to read a note.

Preparing for Space Expansion: Which Characters to Bring

Outer space in Genshin Impact isn’t just a stroll. The Archaeolum Storm exhaustion bar fills quickly, and certain characters provide a significant advantage.

Who’s worth picking:

  • Shilonen – Her movement and evasive abilities work great in zero-gravity conditions. She’s especially useful for avoiding the searchlights on the far side of the Moon.
  • Mavuika – If she’s already at your height, her mobility and damage will help you quickly deal with enemies without wasting time on protracted fights.
  • Varesa – A character with a special sprint that saves time when moving between platforms.
  • Any character with high mobility or the ability to dash is useful for flying through searchlights.

Tip: Avoid heavy characters with slow movement speed – in space, every second counts until the exhaustion meter fills.

Space Station Puzzles: How to Solve Recovery Cores

Genshin space puzzles

On your way to outer space, you’ll encounter several puzzles related to spatial manipulation.

The main mechanic is the use of Dex (a mysterious creature that helps manipulate reality). The Dex allows you to remove seals, open passages, and interact with otherwise inaccessible objects.

How to solve restoration cores:

  1. Approach the flickering Storm Blocking Field—it will prevent your attrition from fully regenerating.
  2. Use the Archaeolum Ripple to shoot the Pioneer Source Structure near the field.
  3. Destroy the structure—the field will stop flickering and begin functioning correctly.
  4. Regenerate your attrition and move on.

There are other puzzles in the Temple of Space, such as those involving mirrored paintings and stone platforms. Solving them usually yields a precious chest as a reward.

Video guide: How to reach outer space

Genshin outer space

If the text description seems too complicated, a visual video walkthrough will help you get the hang of it faster. The visual route is especially useful in sections that involve avoiding spotlights and flying between platforms.

Key points to watch in the video:

  • The exact path from the teleporter to the locked door
  • How to fly through the spotlight using Ancient Moon energy
  • Where exactly are all the chests located under the platform
  • What do the storm blocking fields look like and what to do with the flickering one
