Crafting top-tier equipment in Gothic 1 Remake is no easy task. The most powerful melee weapons will require rare resources, among which obsidian is key. The problem is that the game refuses to guide you. You’ll have to search for schematics and rare ore yourself, fighting your way through hordes of dangerous monsters. Our guide will help you save time and collect the necessary pieces of black stone, which will become available starting in Chapter 4, without any fuss.
Exact coordinates for obsidian in orc territory
Since obsidian is solidified lava, it makes sense to look for it in the hottest part of the area. You can only reach the desired zone after completing the key quests of Chapter 3 and clearing the Miner Queen’s lair. Once you’ve progressed through the story, your path leads southeast of the map, deep into orcish lands.
The fastest way to reach the resource is by following this route:

Go to the Northern Entrance of the Old Camp (also the main entrance).

Turn left and follow the path, carefully avoiding the guards.

This same path leads to the Petrified Tree, another important point on the map.

As soon as a fiery lava river appears ahead, turn right.
The area around the deposit is inhabited by some extremely unpleasant neighbors: orc warriors, orc dogs, and spiny beasts. A frontal assault isn’t necessary—with a good amount of skill, eliminating just a couple of Spiked Beasts is enough to safely collect the loot.
Collection Instructions: Where to Find the Three Obsidian Pieces
Facing the raging lava flow, press yourself against the rocky wall. Move forward to the point where the molten fire meets the water. Right there, you’ll see a small, coal-colored rock—at its base, three obsidian pieces are waiting on the ground. Grab them before the patrols spot you.
