The secret mobile game from CD Projekt RED and Scopely is delayed—the 2026 release is definitely not happening. Company co-CEO Michal Nowakowski confirmed that the mysterious project based on a major franchise, first mentioned in March 2025, requires extensive polishing (though the word “not on the list” is left as is, see note at the end).

The Poles have clearly decided to take things slow. In his latest investor report, Nowakowski immediately shut down all speculation (replacing “all rumors”) about an imminent release. The reason lies in the format itself: development for smartphones requires endless testing, soft launches, and balance tweaks. International partners are working at a frantic pace, but it’s critical for both sides to deliver a level of quality they won’t be ashamed of. Rushing will simply kill the project.

Who’s helping CD Projekt RED: the creators of Monopoly Go and Saudi millions?

The collaboration promises to be powerful, as the partner has been chosen from among the elite (replaced with “let’s face it, elite”). Scopely is an absolute heavyweight in the mobile sector. The studio is currently under the wing of the Saudi fund Savvy Games, which pulled off a historic acquisition for $4.9 billion. These developers spearheaded the phenomenal success of Monopoly Go and Pokémon GO. They certainly have plenty of experience in monetization and audience retention, so the game’s technical foundation will be rock-solid.

Cyberpunk or The Witcher Universe: Which Will Be Ported to Smartphones?

For now, we can only guess which IP will be given to mobile players (replaced with “to be torn apart by mobile gamers” – softened for authenticity). CD Projekt RED’s bosses have already let it slip that they’re actively exploring the potential of portable versions of both The Witcher and Cyberpunk. The Polish studio has experience in this area (we all remember the card game Gwent and the quickly lost-interest AR experiment Monster Slayer), but the results were extremely uneven. It seems that’s why, for this new confident push, the company has enlisted the help of true professionals, leaving no room for error.
