The German MOUZ tag, to be honest, just slammed the door — the organization is officially shutting down its Valorant program after four years of trying to break through.

The statement they rolled out on X (formerly Twitter) sounds like a verdict on the entire current Riot Games system. The Germans said bluntly: the current structure of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) is not only not working, it simply leaves no room for the ambitions of the club. MOUZ exits Valorant ecosystem is the final four years of grinding and wasting resources.

Problems of the VCT structure and the crisis of the tir-2 ecosystem

Challenges of VCT and Tier 2 Here, by the way, lies the main drama. MOUZ didn’t spell out every point, but it’s clear to insiders that the list of those who are fleeing the shooting range—2 of the Valorant ecosystem is growing frighteningly fast. Since 2022, this tag has been one of the pillars in the DACH Challengers league — they really fought for titles and trips to the top.

In fact, there were results.

  • The team took away VALORANT Challengers 2024 DACH: Evolution Split 2.
  • They made it to VCT Ascension EMEA 2024.

But this is where the system breaks down. MOUZ took 5th—6th place at Ascension, and that’s it. The path is closed. This shows how wild the risks are embedded in the mechanics of the promotion: one mistake, one unsuccessful tournament, and a year of work in the trash. The VCT model, admittedly, is merciless to those who are outside the partner leagues, and the resulting VCT structure misalignment hits the pocket.

The VCT model, admittedly, is merciless to those who are outside the partner leagues.

  1. The competition windows are short.
  2. The prize pools are ridiculous, to be honest.
  3. There is only one chance of promotion through Ascension.

For an organization, this means one thing: you pour money in all the time, and there are zero guarantees. No income sharing, no stability until you break through this glass ceiling.

Anxiety, by the way, has been in the air for a long time. Last year, the VALORANT Players Association released a report with a harsh prediction: the future of second-tier competition “hangs in the balance.” Investors do not see a return on funds (ROI), and the long-term financial sustainability of the project raises questions.

Riot Games, of course, are trying to put out the fire. In June, the publisher took the unprecedented step of allowing bookmaker sponsorship in North America and EMEA (for both Valorant and League of Legends). They called it an “investment in a sustainable ecosystem.” The plan was this: part of the betting money would go back to Tier 2 ecosystem challenges, increase the prize money and support the development.

But, apparently, this was not enough for MOUZ. The German grandee’s decision is a signal. Even with the new sponsorship categories, the risk still outweighs the benefit. The Shooting Gallery-2 scene seems to remain an exclusion zone for major players.

The Challengers EMEA ecosystem update and the path to VCT 2026

Riot Games seems to have finally heard the pleas of the shooting gallery-2 scene — The EMEA ecosystem Challengers in 2026, to be honest, looks like a complete overhaul of the elevators to the top.

Riot Games The Challengers EMEA

No more dead ends. Now the teams from the regional leagues have, imagine, a clear route map straight to the Stage 2 Play-Ins and, quite crazily, to the Champions.

The EMEA Clash tournament as a format for the integration of Tier-1 and Tier-2

Here, by the way, is the most interesting part. A completely new event, the VALORANT EMEA Clash, will start from February 16 to 26, 2026. The point is simple, but tough. Those VCT EMEA trains that flew past the Masters Santiago fall into the same pit as the top ones from the Challengers.

  • This is the first time Riot has officially mixed Shooting Gallery 1 and Shooting Gallery 2 in an official season.
  • For the “kids” it’s a chance to score a rating and show the sponsors that they can bite.
  • The tournament essentially fills the gap between the VCT Kickoff and the Masters.

Teams from the conditional NORTH//EAST or MENA Resilience, apparently, will be able to test the meta against the grandees. Upsets are inevitable here — and that’s cool, really.

The schedule of seasonal splits and the structure of the stages in Europe

The structure has become denser and it is noticeable. The season was divided into three parts, with each region (France Revolution, VCL DACH transition, Spain Rising, Turkiye Birlik and others) conducting their own internal qualifications.

Watch your hands — the schedule is tight:

  • Stage 1 (March 16-31) 14 teams join the battle. The scheme, by the way, is tricky — 2 slots each from the region plus quotas for NORTH //EAST. This is, in fact, a warm-up.
  • Stage 2 (May 18-28) This is where the real eyeglass hunt begins. The format is the same, but the stakes are higher, because the accumulated points are life for the season finale.
  • Stage 3 (June 22 – July 6) Main heat. The grid is expanded to 16 teams — 8 enter the direct slots of the regions, 8 more get points (bo3 matches).

All this, by the way, opens up access to competitions for 50+ teams across Europe. On a large scale.

Ascension qualification and entry to Champions Shanghai

Stage 3 is like the key to all doors. The promotion system has finally become more transparent. The top three teams of this stage fly directly into the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-Ins. But the fourth slot, by the way, will be played through the Last Chance Qualifier (Riot has kept the details for now).

After going through the Play-Ins, you can get into the playoffs and, what the hell, grab a ticket to Champions Shanghai.

  • The teams that shone in 2025 now have not 1-2 ghost chances, but as many as 4 real paths.

Investing in roasters now seems to make sense, given the new competitive integrity standards.

Game Changers Development and Regional Cup Circuit

Thank God, the women’s stage has also been filled with content. Game Changers EMEA leaves out the classic Kickoff and three stages, but adds a bold layer — Circuit. This is a series of regional events and monthly Cash Cups. And that’s where the attention comes in. The winners of these cups receive a direct ticket to the Stage 3 Play-Ins.

Game Changers Development

The connection with the Premier mode, by the way, is getting deeper. The number of official matches for women’s squads may grow to 50 per season. It’s powerful.

Survival strategies and tips for teams in the new meta

If you’re aiming for the top, forget about the rest. The main tactic now is stability in qualifications. You need to aim at least at the top 2 of your region in order to farm points from March itself. Use Clash to understand what VCT teams are breathing (expect a lot of Sentinel setups, 100% info). And, of course, stream the whole thing on Twitch — the media in 2026 will solve no less than aim.
