Locations are populated mainly by not the most dangerous opponents – ordinary zombies and other monsters that create an atmosphere more than a real threat. The real threat in Hunt does not lie in the monsters. It lurks in the world around you… and in other players.

No problem, no one is forcing you there. Does Butcher seem too easy a target? You can immediately go looking for a more serious opponent. And if there is only one boss, then it becomes clear: all players will concentrate in one place, and there will be almost no chance of avoiding the encounter.

Over time, the modest choice of bosses themselves begins to upset. It is clear that creating dozens of unique monsters is not an easy task, but so far there are only four types, albeit with noticeably different behavior. And they behave predictably: bosses never leave their lair. So even if the fight doesn’t go as planned, you can just go out the door and calmly shoot the monster from a safe distance. Although, maybe I’m being picky. Maybe the point is that we fight not so much with bosses as with each other, and the monsters themselves are just a way to lure everyone to one point. And you know, it’s not even that bad. A living opponent is always scarier than any AI.

Some players complain about the dominance of cheaters, saying that in almost every game someone cheats. But in my fifty hours of Hunt, I have never encountered an outright violator. A couple of strange deaths – yes, but they were more likely accidents. And experienced players in the comments say the same thing. There are a couple of little things that can knock you out of the immersion a little. For example, third-person animations. Your partner climbing over a fence or climbing into a window sometimes looks funny and clumsy. The weapon animations could also be livelier, but you get used to them quickly.

But what really irritates me is the interface. When the “Interact” button appears on the screen, the game doesn’t always make it clear what it’s talking about: a door, a lamp, or even a bell that will immediately attract the entire map to you. Although Hunt: Showdown looks cool visually, there are some nuances here too. Even at maximum settings in QuadHD, the picture sometimes seems blurry, and the optimization leaves much to be desired – it consistently holds around 70 frames per second, but without a reserve.

And finally, a subjective but important point – the lack of global goals. Hunt has no full-fledged plot, no quest chains, no long-term progression. This is a real sandbox, where you have to entertain yourself. If you came here for PvP, perhaps you will be satisfied with everything. For example, sometimes the game has too much information, and the PvE elements could be more interesting. But overall, the balance feels strong.
