The Story of Veigar
A Yordle Who Outgrew Yordle Magic
Veigar started out an ordinary, free-spirited resident of Bandle City, the yordles’ elusive home realm that slips in and out of the mortal world. What set him apart was restlessness: he found the yordles’ own magic too limiting, and went searching instead for something far older — ancient sorcery buried in texts long forgotten by nearly everyone else. What he uncovered reshaped him into a stubborn, endlessly curious master of dark sorcery, still fascinated by the universe’s deeper mysteries even after everything he’s already learned.
Evil, By His Own Estimation
Veigar considers himself genuinely, thoroughly evil — a label he seems to enjoy more than resist. What complicates that self-image is the inner morality he clearly still carries, one that leads others to question how evil he actually is underneath the theatrics. His kit leans into the persona regardless, and it rewards patience over recklessness: his passive, self-mockingly named Phenomenal Evil Power, grows permanently stronger every time he strikes a champion with a spell or scores a takedown, and those stacks directly shorten the cooldown on Dark Matter, the mass of dark energy he drops on a target location — dangerous, but avoidable if an opponent catches the sound and visual cues before it lands. Baleful Strike pierces the first two enemies in its path and permanently rewards him with ability power for any kill, Event Horizon bends space into a cage that only stuns enemies caught at its very edge, and Primordial Burst, his signature execute, hits harder the lower its target’s health has already fallen. He is, by most accounts, one of the more fragile mages in Runeterra, leaning hard on mana and cooldown reduction to keep the whole cycle turning. Fellow yordles like Teemo come from the same corner of the world, though few of them share Veigar’s particular hobby of hoarding forbidden magic.
