The Story of Nasus
Exile After the Fall
Nasus was never an ordinary guardian. As an Ascended being with the head of a jackal, he served ancient Shurima as a strategist and keeper of knowledge, regarded by the empire’s people as something close to a demigod. When that empire collapsed, he didn’t stay to rebuild it. He withdrew instead, disappearing so completely that he became little more than a story told about a lost age, an intelligence with nowhere left to apply itself.
Old Bonds, New Purpose
His exile ended only once Shurima’s ancient city rose again. Nasus returned with a single goal: making sure the empire doesn’t fall a second time. That mission puts him at odds with his own brother, Renekton, whose Ascension left him in a very different state, and it ties him to Azir, with whom he shares an old bond dating back before the fall. In battle, his patience becomes literal: Siphoning Strike grows permanently stronger with every kill it lands, Wither ages an enemy champion’s speed away over time, Spirit Fire burns down armor across an area, and Fury of the Sands turns him into a sandstorm that batters everyone nearby while shortening his own Siphoning Strike cooldown. Few champions in Shurima’s orbit, including Naafiri, carry as direct a stake in the empire’s second chance as he does.
Nasus plays almost exclusively in Top lane, drawing on mana rather than raw stats alone. Every Siphoning Strike that lands as a kill adds permanent power, which is why landing last hits with it matters more over the course of a match than almost anything else he does. Spirit Fire lets him clear a lane efficiently when he is alone there, though it becomes a liability against two opponents pushing together, and even in aggressive builds he benefits from some survivability, since he draws focus fire even while transformed. That transformation, Fury of the Sands, makes him stronger than most champions in the League for its duration, but he remains vulnerable to being kited if caught at full health before it begins.
